First things first, let me get this off my chest: Geroge W. Bush is officially going ot be the next President of our fine country. Let me be the first to say that I don't really think anyone outside the Bush family is particulalry thrilled about this - but it could be worse. I actually voted for Bush and am not ashamed to admit it. Ok maybe a little ashamed, but hey I can at least say I am one for one on my voting win-loss record. |
I am very interested in certain Political Issues, click on the respective links for more information on them:
- Campaign Finance Reform My boy McCain put it wonderfully the other day when he commented that the next election cycle will start dangerously soon - comprehensive campaign finance reform must be passed now before it is too late again. Powerful interest groups and Labor Unions are taking the average person's political power from them! Write your Senator and Pres W and tell them you demand that McCain-Feingold become law! |
-Environmental Issues: As much as I complain about Hippies, the environment is very important to me. Tell W. that drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge won't solve our energy problems - only finding a renewable source of energy (like solar hydrogen - hint, hint) will make this country free from the machinations of OPEC and co. Plus we get to reduce fossil fuel emmission! |
Capital Punishment: The death penalty is an outmoded and unneccessary form of punishment in the year 2000. However, we just elected a President who "can't wait to unplug the Christmas lights at the White House so he can plug in the electric chair. DNA Evidence has shown that innocent men and women have been put on death row. I refuse to let innocent deaths lay on our national conscience. Campaign for the end of the death penalty now! |
Abortion: I am Pro-Life and proud of it. Abortion IS murder and causes irreparable harm (both psychological and sometime physical) to the mother, whether it is a partial birth abortion or merely taking RU-486. Though I can't say we live in a society where out right banning abortion would be logical, I do think we need to start treating it like it is, and work to make it very rare - for the sake of the children and their mothers. |
John McCain with Pres. Nixon, after Vietnam. |
Gun Control: Do there need to be more laws restricting gun use? Maybe. I personally think there should be an all out ban on assault weapons, guns that have no purpose but killing others, guns that should only be in the hands of the Police and Armed services. However, federal gun laws already on the books NEED to be more strongly enforced before new laws are passed. There is a line between protecting our kids from violence and stamping on citizen's rights. We must make sure we don't cross it. |
