Located in one of the nicer areas of Monterey, a new theatre has arisen. Formerly this spot of land had a rather nice mansion owned by one of the city's more reclusive elite. A fire (some say arson) consumed it, and it would appear the former owner died in that blaze. The "Phoenix Theatre" has been recieved with mixed responses. While the building is lovely, and it encourages creativity in the community, it also seems to attract some odd elements. The theatre is a modern masterpiece of design, incorporating some classical elements. The finest of green and blue stone was used in the construction of both interior and exterior. An elegant mix of persian and greecian design form the columns that support the building. |
The stage is of solid wood, with rich velvet curtains ready to be drawn open or closed at a touch. The audiance chamber is arranged for both accoustics and a fine view from almost any seat. As a non profit community theatre, shows are infrequent, and varied; but seek to draw volunteers in from both the youth and senior citizens. Of course, most mortals only get to see half of the wonder in this reborn place. To enchanted sight, the very nature of the theatre is enhanced, somehow larger, grander, and all the more inspiring. As suits such, there is a sense of drama, tragedy, and yes even comedy here. The stone work in particular, is even more ornate. Crafted by Edward the Muse, it is truly inspired. Various kithian have commented that they have seen faces in the stone work, or that the stone had a warmth underlying it noticable to the touch. The actual balefire is below a trap door in the stage. The balefire room is surprisingly simple, and secure. Perhaps it reflects it's holder more than any other room in the theatre. The flame burns a brilliant emerald hue, and Baron Rafial has made sure those who would rest here may do so in comfort. |
