Our first game of the season
after missing two due to
snowy conditions was a road
trip to the north east to
play a young Eastside team.
Upon arriving I had to give
some advice to the opposition
coach on how to mark out
the field. Our game was
held at an elementary/junior
high school with a very
small field. We got into a very
scrambly game on a field
that was very uneven and some-
what lacking in grass. With
everyone trying to get the
season off to a good start
our energy was high. The
small field however led
to a lot of close play and not
a lot of spreading the play
out until the second half.
Hend and Alicia scored 2
goals apiece to give us a wide
margin by the second half.
Jenna played very well in
net to get the shut out.
The team has a number of
younger players on it so
in the early going the efforts
of the older girls, in particular
Christine and Kate on
defense, Jenna in midfield
and Alicia up front will give
the younger girls more confidence.
The fifth goal came
from some nice play which
I hope will be indicitive of
how we play throughout the
season. The final result
being Brenna making a nice
pass for Renee to score. The
5-0 results was a fair reflection
of the play and it was
a good starting point for
the team.
