Knowing Northern Hills from
the last couple of years, I figured we
would be in for a tough
game. We had just the 11 girlswhich made
it tougher. So when we played
well in the first half and got a 1-0
lead via a nice pass from
Dani for Chelsea to score I was happy.
We didn't give up a shot
in the half and kept stretching their defense.
The second half saw Rachael
replace Alicia in net, I was hoping we
could get the ball in the
net a couple of times to take the pressure
off. It didn't work and
they scored after our defense didn't pick up
loose forwards in the penalty
area. We looked like funky chickens
at that moment. As the game
wore on both teams were getting tired.
Finally Dani made one of
her runs down the left side pay off with a
ball across the Diablos
6 yard box and Alicia converted. We
switched Jennifer out of
mid-field because both her and Megan had
run, run, run the whole
game and we needed fresh legs in mid-field.
Jennifer finished off a
break away in fine style after Hend had got
her the ball and we were
home safe.
We still made it tough on
ourselves by clearing balls to the opposition
a lot and not looking out
wide for red shirts. Everyone played very
hard in the game and the
victory was deserved on effort alone.
