The Carrington Estate, main house

Krystle Carrington entered the house bewildered, looking for Blake. The news Dr. Rushford gave her was quit disturbing, and almost too much to believe, she wanted to find Blake, and let him know immediately.

“Gerard, have you seen Mr. Carrington?” she asked the major domo.

“I believe he is in the library, Mrs. Carrington” He answered.

“Thank you, Gerard, I need to speak to him, make sure we are not disturbed” she said and hurried to the library.

Blake was sitting behind his desk, deep with thoughts. He didn’t notice Krystle entered the room.

“Blake?”

“Darling, I did not hear you come in” he stood up and kissed her. “Is everything all right?”

“I just came from the hospital.” She said not knowing how to begin to tell Blake that his oldest son was deeply disturbed.

“What were you doing there, are you all right?” Blake inquired.

“I had a meeting with Adam’s doctor.” She looked away. “Blake, I’ve found out some terrible things about Adam.”

“Well, what happened?”

“Oh, Blake… the chief of police was right. Adam has serious problem”

“What kind of problem?”

“It looks like schizophrenia”

“Schizophrenia, Are you sure?” Blake knew that Adam was upset, but this was unbelievable.

“That’s what doctor Dr. Rushford said, yes”

“Dear god”

“Blake, if it’s true, it will explain all what’s been happening lately, why Adam seems so delusional”

“And all the other things he thought he saw… We have to talk with him”

“No, Blake. It won’t help. Adam thinks he really experienced those things; it is very real for him. He believes that Mrs. Litton took Dana, You can’t tell him he made it all up”

“What should we do?”

“I set up a meeting for you with Dr. Rushford - since you are Adam’s father, he wants to explain to you what is going on in Adam’s mind, and the ways we’ll have to take care of Adam” she said and Blake groaned. It was too much for him. “Blake?”

“I thought about Krystina all day. I miss her so much. And now this problem with Adam…”

“We will get over this, Blake. Krystina will come back eventually, and Adam will be healed. Also, I’m still working with this Georgia woman to try and find out new information about Woo. I’m sure we’ll find out the truth eventually”

“So you are still working with this woman?”

“I believe she really can help us, Blake. There is something about her that is so fascinated. I just know she’ll help us finding out the truth”

“I hope so, right now I just want to talk with Krystina, to try and convince her coming back”

“Blake, she still needs some time”

“I have to try, Krystle. I want you to come with me to Delta Rho. Sammy Jo is not there. We’ll be alone with her, maybe she’ll listen if the three of us sit and talk there alone.”

“You think so?”

“We have to try. It’s about time we stop this craziness and continue with our lives, Krystle. It is really about time”

The Carrington’s Estate, the Cabin

LB and Ashley spent all afternoon in the cabin, far away from the main house. After Lauren had almost found them together, they decided not to take anymore chances, and spent the afternoon alone away form prying eyes. The cabin was the perfect place for that. After they made sure nobody saw them, they took some food and drinks from the kitchen in the main house and went to the cabin.

“Wow… I was so hungry!” LB said after he and Ashley finished they quick late lunch.

“I saw that!” Ashley laughed.

“The next time will be normal, at a restaurant, with candles and all that”

“It doesn’t matter to me, LB. you know that. And besides, there is a risk to going out in public, somebody could see us” she didn’t want to take this chance; not yet, not until she had a chance to talk with Danny.

“That why you have to talk with him, Ashley. He doesn’t even know you came back to Denver.”

“I know. I just… I don’t know how to tell him, LB”

“You don’t know or don’t want to?”

“Come on, LB. Don’t start with that again. You know exactly how I feel for you”

“And I know you still have feelings for Danny” he knew she still loved his cousin, and he knew once Danny heard about their relationship, things would never be the same for them.

“I do have feelings for him, yes. We already talked about that, LB. I need some time. I can’t just go and tell him all that at once. It’s too soon”

“But you have to tell him you are staying in Denver. You can’t get his hopes up for nothing”

“I know, I know. I will call him later; I just hope he won’t take it too hard”

“I’m sure he will understand. He loves you”

“That’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t want to hurt him, LB”

“Don’t worry about that, he’ll be fine there in Princeton, and we’ll be just fine here in Denver. Just you and me” he said and kissed her softly on the lips. “I love you Ashley Hamilton”

“I love you too” she smiled to him.

“I want you, Ashley. I want you so much” he said and began to undress her.

“Wait…” she stopped him and stood up.

“Hey… where you going?”

“I said wait… it’ll be worth it” she smiled and went to the bathroom…

At the same time Cathy looked for Joseph at the cross yard. The boring kids slipped out from the main house and went to play hiding seek around in the yard, and when Cathy didn’t find Joseph anywhere she thought he might be at the cabin.

“Jo? I know you there…Joseph?” she called and came closer to the window at the side of the cabin. “Got you!” she called out when she found him under a tree.

“Sh be quiet, look!” He told her and pointed at the window. Ashley was standing in the bathroom, taking her clothes off.

“Ash? Can I come in?”

“I’ll be out in a second” she said and took her clothes off completely. She didn’t see Joseph who looked at her from outside, all amused…

Delta Rho, Ranch and Stables

At the same time during the afternoon Krystina and Kyle came back from the riding the ranch into the house at Delta Rho. They spent the last few hours riding over the land, that Sammy Jo’s father left her: Kyle had never rode a horse before in his life and Krystina was determined to teach him. It didn’t work though like she had wanted. Kyle didn’t like the horse he got, especially after he almost fell down by the river.

“You are so funny!” Krystina called, laughing when they found their way back to the house.

“I’m glad you think its funny – because I don’t!”

“Stop being so childish, it’s happens to everyone in the beginning, you’ll learn!”

“No I won’t, I’m over this riding stuff.” he said angry.

“I think that’s what Wily says about you” she said, amused, referring to the horse he rode.

“Wily, hmm?”

“Yes!” she laughed.

“Hey, don’t laugh at me, I’ll tickle you!”

“No you won’t”

“Yes I will” this time it was his turn to be amused.

“No, Kyle, stop, stop!” she laughed when he held her in his arms and began tickling her. They entered the house and stopped laughing at once when they saw Krystle and Blake sitting in the living room.

“Krystina, hello” Blake stood up when he saw his daughter.

“What are you two doing here?” she wasn’t happy to see them.

“We miss you, honey. We want you to come back with us”

“No, definitely no! I told Sammy Jo I did not want you two coming around here”

“Sammy Jo doesn’t know we’re here, Sweaty. She has nothing to do with that” Krystle defended her niece.

“It doesn’t matter. I’m not going home with you, you can forget that”

“Sweetheart, at least talk to us. There was a time nothing could come between us. Please give us a chance. You mother and I love you very much”

“And I love Kyle very much” she said and hugged her boyfriend.

“Krystina, maybe I should go” Kyle didn’t want to cause more problems for her with her parents.

“No, you are staying here”

“Krystina, maybe you should listen to him” Krystle tried.

“No, I want you two to leave, now”

“Krystina, please. Don’t let him come between us!” Blake begged her.

“You are the one who has come between us, daddy. Only you” Krystina stormed out.

“Honey, please, let us tabout this alone, just the three of us” Krystle tried one more time.

“No, any thing you havto say you can say it in front of Kyle” the girl insisted.

“Why can’t you see the truth? He is the reason we’ve gotten into this mess!” Blake raised his voice.

“Mr. Carrington, if you only – “Kyle began.

“You don’t talk to me, you bastard – “ Blake began loosing his patient.

“Stop that, Daddy, stop now!” Krystina yelled at him. “I want you two to go – now!”

“Honey…” Krystle tried to get closer to her daughter.

“Go, just go!” the girl shouted. Krystle looked at Blake. She knew how much his daughter had hurt him, but she also knew that Krystina was hurting too. There was nothing they can do to convince the girl to go back home with them, but Blake refused to accept that.

“Blake” she turned to him, afraid that he would try to hit Kyle. The old man looked at his daughter who ignored his look and stayed with Kyle. Only after Krystle and Blake left the house she let the tears to sweep her eyes while Kyle holding her, and promised to himself he would never let Blake hurt her anymore…

The Lobby of the Stratford Hotel, Rome, Italy

After the meeting earlier in the day with Peter Richards, Amanda, Jeff, and especially Dex were all reeling form the news that Sable was behind the plot to disillusion Dex.

Amanda gently led Dex towards the elevator, “Come on Dex, you look like you should lye down awhile.”

“No thank you Amanda, I’ll be fine. I just want to be alone for a while.” Dex said politely, but Amanda wouldn’t take no for an answer.

“Dex, I’m not letting you go alone, you need your friends right now, Right Jeff.”

“Yes, why don’t you let Amanda take you to your room, and I’ll be right alone in a minute.” Jeff finished, and Amanda gave him a puzzled look as she and Dex stepped into the elevator.

As the doors closed, Jeff walked outside the glass lobby doors and across to the park that was opposite the Hotel, Jeff was a man on a mission, and as he strolled past the busts of past Roman Emperors, he thought to himself. Sable Scott Colby for better of worse had changed over the years, and no matter how much Jeff had hated Sable in the past, he would be the first to defend her now.

“There is no way Sable would take Cameron away form his father, not after all the heartache that she withstood after Jason found out Miles and Monica were not his children.” Jeff said as he looked around. “She just wouldn’t do that, no matter how much she hated Dex for what he had done.”

Jeff knew that all the answers were to be found at the clinic where Sable had stayed, and that was where Jeff was headed.

The Carrington Estate, main house

“So you think Adam made it all up?” Lindsay-Georgia asked Krystle. She arrived to the house a few minutes earlier, to try and find with Krystle’s help, a name that will be familiar to Blake, to help uncover the mystery of the consortium. Krystle told her about Mrs. Litton and the story Adam told them about her kidnapping Dana, but it turned out to be all in his mind.

“Well, he thinks it’s really happened. That’s what so horrible in this disease. You can’t tell what is real and what’s not”

“Poor Adam” Lindsay said and thought to herself how perfect things had progressed; everyone thought Adam was crazy, just as she planned.

“Yes… he has been thought so much lately. First Kirby died and he stayed alone with his son, then he got shot – and now this” Krystle really loved him, no matter how many troubles he had caused the family in the past.

“So if it’s not Mrs. Litton, who can it be?” Lindsay asked.

“I wish I knew. We looked everywhere. All the bad guys who wanted to get back at Blake or the family – are all dead, or behind bars”

“Can you organize a list of those people that are in prison?”

“I can try… why? Do you think it can help?”

“Who knows? Maybe…” she said and stood up. “Oh dear, look at the time, I have to go”

“Already? I thought you’ll stay for dinner and meet Blake”

“Oh, no. but I’d love to meet your husband some other time, he sounds like a great man” Lindsay smiled.

“He is” Krystle smiled back and escort Lindsay out of the living room. In the moment they went out, Steven entered the house and bumped into Lindsay.

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” He apologized.

“It’s all right. I guess you are Adam?” Lindsay knew exactly who he is.

“No, this is Blake’s younger son. Steven” Krystle introduced them to each other. “Steven, Georgia. She’s helping me with the investigation into the consortium”

“Oh, yes. Dad told me something about that” Steven said and looked at Lindsay. He didn’t know her, but there was something about her that was so familiar to him.

“Well I don’t want to be rude but I really have to go. It was nice to meet you, Mr. Carrington”

“You too”

“Goodbye Krystle”

“Bye” Krystle answered, and with that Lindsay went out.

“Steven, is everything all right?” Krystle asked him. He looked bothered.

“Yes, yes, it just that – “ he wanted to seak with her, tell her all what happened with Sammy Jo and Jim, but then Cathy and Joseph showed up at the hall, running, all laughing.

“It was so funny!” the little girl called loudly.

“What so funny, kids?” Krystle wondered.

“Danny’s girlfriend!” Joseph called.

“You mean Ashley?” Steven was surprised.

“Yep, Ashley!” Joseph looked at Cathy and they both laughed.

“Ashley is out of town, Joseph”

“No, she’s not” the little boy was amused. “She’s here, in Denver!” he said and run upstairs with Cathy, leaving Steven and Krystle surprised even more.

La Mirage- Boardroom

Fallon stood before a large crowd; this was a meeting between the entire staff, and their new boss, the first in a long line of pep and growth talks Fallon was conducting to let the staff know that in Sable’s absence, things would go on.

“Well, I’m sorry that it took me so long to have you all here, but it was a pleasure speaking to you, and I hope we can make our time here at La Mirage profitable, and fun.” She raised her hands, indicating that the meeting was over, and the crowd began to filter out, Fallon gathered her things. She had been going threw Sable’s office, and preparing to take over operations at La Mirage, and in the process she had stepped on a few feet.

One of the major feet that she had stepped on was Sable’s general manager, Harold Morris, Fallon had tried to be gentle, and let this man know that she would be taking over his duties, but all she got was a look of discontent.

Today was no better, all through out the meeting Harold had made comments, and tried to make Fallon look like a fool, and now she was angry, “Harold, could you stay in here a minute?” she called, and he walked over to her.

“Yes, Mrs. Colby.”

“Oh Please, call me Fallon.” She said trying to sound polite.

“Any thing you say MRS. COLBY” he accentuated.

Fallon only smiled. “I was wondering what was so important that it couldn’t wait until I was finished speaking.”

Harold looked embarrassed; she had noticed his rude behavior. This only made him more defensive. “Well I think it was a lot of smoke.”

“Smoke” Fallon questioned?

“Yes, like the Indians used to use to hide their real intent. I think you are taking control here and I don’t like it.”

“Excuse me, did I miss something, why are you being so difficult, I’m sure that if we try we can have a good working relationship.”

“You high and might rich people always think it’s the little guys fault, we things were running fine her until you showed up, and I was just voicing it to my fellow workers.” He said.

“Well if you don’t like the way I run thing, Mr. Morris I suggest you give me your notice, and I will find and equally competent person to do your job.” And with that Fallon turned and left Harold looking bewildered.

“No Mrs. Colby, it had better be you that gives’ their notice, before you find out more than you need to know.”

The Stratford Hotel, Dex’s suite

Amanda had finally gotten Dex to go to sleep, and as she closed the door to the joining bedroom she quietly walked over to the phone. “Jeff where are you.”

Amanda felt so horribly bad for Dex, and she didn’t know where to turn. She wanted to take away his pain, but she knew that only Sable anCameron could do that right now.

“Damn you Sable, how could you do this to him.” She spoke out loud, and then an idea came to mind “Mother.”

Amanda sat in the of the room looking around, she smiled as she remembered the times that her mother and Dex were married and lovers, she just knew that she had to get the two of them together again, but she just wasn’t sure how.

“Oh if only you two would get your lives straightened out, I know that you would be getting back together.”

Amanda decided that it was time to take matters into her own hands, and decided that no matter what time it was in Denver, she had to make he mother aware of Dex’s situation, and maybe then she would understand, that Dex needed her, and she needed Dex,

Amanda dialed and out going operator, and placed her call to her mother’s penthouse, and soon one of the servants answered the phone, “Hello may I speak to my mother please.”

“Oh I’m sorry Miss Amanda, but your mother isn’t in.”

“When will she be back?” Amanda inquired.

“Well, I’m not sure, she left with Zach Powers, for Acapulco , but she never sat a return date.”

“Thank you that will be all.” Zach? she couldn’t go away with Zach, “Oh, Mother he’s so wrong for you, can’t you see that?” Amanda sank into her chair, realizing that until Dex, her mother, and herself were all in Denver together nothing was going to change.

Jim’s Apartment

“Jim? Jim, you here?” Ashley called when she entered into the apartment. The key Jim used to leave outside under the flowerpot was there as always. She knocked several times before entering the flat. She didn’t want to surprise Jim in case he had someone with him. When nobody responded, she took the key and entered the flat.

The living room was a mess. She smiled to herself, thinking how obvious it was that a man lived in this flat.

“Ashley? Is that you?!” she heard Jim’s voice suddenly from the bathroom.

“The one and only!” she smiled when Jim showed up; a towel covered his naked body.

“I didn’t hear you come in. My goodness… come here!” he hugged her.

“Be careful, you don’t want your towel to fall” she smiled and he let her go.

“Certainly not” he smiled back. “Let me have a minute, I’ll change” he said and entered his room. Ashley entered the kitchen, trying to find something fresh in the fridge.

“So… what is going on with you? I was so surprised to hear you came back so soon” Jim said when he came back few moments later.

“Yes, it was a big surprise to me too”

“And to LB?” he asked. “I know you spent the night at the mansion”

“How?” she wondered, pour to herself some juice. “Want some?”

“No, thanks. I guessed you would run to LB the minute you’ll arrive. I just hope it all worth it”

“What do you mean?”

“You’ve been in Israel hardly two days. It’s quit a trip you know”

“Well, I guess I needed this to understand a few things”

“Such as?”

“I’m not moving to Princeton. I’m going to stay here in Denver” she said.

“Does Danny know?”

“No, I didn’t talk to him yet”

“Ashley…” he sat down next to her. “I hope you know what you are doing”

“I love LB, Jim”

“But you love Danny as well”

“I don’t know what to do anymore. I love them both, but – “

“But you want LB more” he guessed. He knew exactly the situation she was getting into, and he didn’t want her to get herself into this mess.

“Now I know what you are going to tell me”

“I’m not going to say anything; god knows I’m not an angel myself…. But you should think very well before you decide what you are going to do next with you life. And believe me; I know what I’m talking about”

“I am nothing like you, Jim. And it’s not the same thing”

“Here you are wrong. It is the same. The only different here is that you still can think before you get yourself into some big mess.”

“Such as?”

“To think, Ashley. And think hard, before someone gets hurt. Because believe me, after you’ll do that … you won’t be able to go back” he said and gave her some good things to think about…

The Hilton Hotel - Downtown Denver

The hotel bar looked busy, Lindsay walked in desiring a drink before heading for bed. Jim was busy with Sammy Jo so no love making tonight. She wasn’t worried; Jimmy always came back to her.

“Mr. Carrington, I think you should go home.” The bartender yelled.

Lindsay smiled as she saw Steven a little drunk at the end of the bar.

“Steven?” Lindsay asked.

“You know him?” the bartender asked.

“Yes!” Lindsay said. ”Get me what he’s having and another drink for him. I’ll get him home safely.”

“Thanks! Georgia, right?” Steven handed her his car keys.

“Yes!” Lindsay sat down and picked her drink.

“Men suck!” Steven said.

“Maybe you should stick to woman.” Lindsay smiled as she caressed his leg.

At this point Steven didn’t care; he had just lost the man he loved to the woman he loved.

Lindsay smiled; she was planning to give Steven a night he would never forget.

The Carrington Estate- Main house

Krystle had been sitting in the lounge working on some files for Georgia, when Joseph entered the room looking sad.

“What the matter?” Krystle asked.

“Daddy didn’t come home, and he always plays a game with me before dinner.” Joseph said. “Do you know where my daddy is?”

“No darling, but why don’t you go upstairs and get ready for dinner, and I’ll call you father at his office.”

Joseph smiled and left the room, Krystle dialed the phone and talked to Marge, Adam’s secretary. “Yes, can I speak to Adam please?”

“I’m sorry Krystle but Adam didn’t come in today, in fact he canceled all of his appointments this week.”

“He did?, that’s odd. Did he say why?”

“No just that he couldn’t make it in this week.” Krystle looked puzzled as she hung up the phone. “Oh Adam....”

Acapulco, Zach’s yacht, bedroom

Alexis lay in bed sleeplessly. She glanced at the clock; it was 1:38. She lay back down and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep finally. But long repressed memories kept flooding into her mind, keeping her awake. She turned over in bed and looked at Zach who lay beside her.

Her sexual attraction for Zach Powers had once been incredible. She recalled the time they first met. It hadn’t been love, but Zach was just the type of men she had desired – he was smart, ambitious, successful, very handsome, and extremely charming. Zach and Alexis had been a perfect match as long as no deeper feelings were involved. They shared the same passion for money, success, and sex.

Her thoughts wandered to the night Caress found out about their affair...

Flashback: Acapulco, 1978

Zach and Alexis had started their affair only one day after Caress had introduced them to each other. But since both of them were anxious to keep it a secret they had been as discreet as possible.

Zachary Powers circulated among his guest, laughing and making small talk. He sipped from his champagne while his eyes were fixed on Alexis, who danced with one of Zach’s business friends. Zach smiled as he walked up to her. “Robert, do you mind if I cut in?” He asked, wanting to talk to Alexis. “It was a pleasure, Mrs. Carrington.” Robert said, taking her hand and kissing her wrist.

“Meet me in a few minutes in the study.” Zach whispered as Robert was out of earshot. Alexis looked up at him with the most seductive smile. “Don’t you think your guests will miss you?” She asked while they started to dance. He dismissed her faked concern with a laugh and went under deck as the song came to an end. Alexis followed him only seconds later.

Zach stood behind his desk as she entered the room. He opened a drawer and retrieved a black velvet box. “Alexis, you’re the most exciting woman I’ve ever known, and the past few days have been very special for me.” He explained while walking slowly around to the front of the desk. He placed the open box down and revealed a breathtaking diamond necklace. “Please accept this as a tribute to show you my admiration.”

Alexis gasped as he took the necklace in his hands. He stepped behind her and put it around her neck. Alexis rushed to a small mirror and examined the diamonds.

Zach made his way over to Alexis. He placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her around. She smiled up at him brightly, placing hand to the necklace. “Thank you, it’s beautiful.” She breathed before kissing him passionately, showing her thankfulness.

“Not nearly as beautiful as you are.” He said, kissing her again. She responded in kind. “I’ve wanted you frothe moment I first saw you.” He continued, pushing her gently against the wall and pressing his body against hers. “Zach...” She protested half-heartedly, placing her hands on his chest and pushing him lightly away. “I don’t think this is a good idea.” She said, trying to stop things from progressing any further. “Caress could catch us.”

“I asked José to entertain her for a while.” Zach smiled. “Nobody will disturb us.” He slid his fingers down her neck, over the necklace, along her shoulders, slipping the thin straps of her dress off. She untied his bow and began to unbutton his shirt as he continued to undress her. Alexis slid her arms around his neck and they began to make love.

Just then, the door opened and Caress stepped in. Caress was shocked as she saw the two. Over Zach’s shoulder Alexis noticed her standing in the doorway. “Caress...” She exclaimed, being shocked too. She pushed Zach’s hands away, putting his advances to a stop.

Zach turned around while Alexis fixed her dress.

“Oh my God, it is true...” Caress gasped, having got the confirmation of her suspicion. Caress stood staring at them, moving her eyes back and forth between Alexis and Zach. “How could you do this to me, Zach? How could you?” She said reproachfully, tears welling up in her eyes. “I thought you loved me.”

“Caress, please let me explain… It’s not what it looks like.” Zach tried to excuse the delicate situation.

Caress tries to regain her composure. “I’m no fool. I know what I see.” She said, noticing the shinning diamond necklace around Alexis’s neck.

Alexis felt uncomfortable and avoided eye contact with her sister, while Zach’s expression was rather indifferent.

.

Caress looked at the two with disgust and anger on her face. “I despise you.” She hissed, turned and run out the room.

Alexis started to run after her, but Zach stopped her, putting his hand on her shoulder. “Let her, she’ll calm down.”

Denver at the same time – Caress’s penthouse, her bedroom

While Alexis found it hard to sleep, in Acapulco, in Denver her sister Caress was unable to find sleep as well. But unlike Alexis she didn’t try to repress memories from the past, on the contrary Caress wanted to remember what had happened between Zach, Alexis and herself back then in South-America. She tried to recall the events of the night Ricardo Chávez had been found dead and she had been arrested. But her memories were foggy and incomplete.

Caress believed she had been convicted although she was innocent, but she couldn’t say for sure what really had happened that night on Zach’s yacht.

Caress thought back to the argument with Zach she had had earlier that night...

Flashback: Caracas, two weeks after the incident on Zach’s yacht - 1978

Caress watched Alexis and Zach dancing together. He held her closely while they kept their eyes locked onto each other’s.

Caress was furious that Zach had invited her sister to this party. When Zach and she had left Acapulco and returned to California he had confessed that his affair with Alexis had been a mistake and he had promised that it was over. She had obligingly forgiven him, but he had abused her confidence at the first best opportunity. Now only two weeks later Alexis were back in Zach’s mind and probably also his bed.

Caress felt hurt and humiliated, realizing that Zach had fooled her. Their vacation to Caracas clearly served only one purpose – he had wanted to see Alexis again. But Caress wouldn’t let Zachary Powers get away with it this time.

Caress had been drinking heavily all evening long to drown her sorrows in alcohol. She had lost count on exactly which drink she was on long ago. She felt the intoxication as she approached Zach and her sister. Holding onto the railing, she struggled to maintain her balance. Furiously she grabbed another glass champagne from a passing waiter’s tray before she continued her way.

“Zach darling, how nice to see that you and your mistress enjoying yourselves.” Caress said loudly, trying to get as much attention as possible.

Zach looked around at his guests as they starred at Caress making him and Alexis a scene. He grabbed her harshly by the arm. “Caress, you’re drunk! Don’t you think you’ve had enough for tonight?” He hissed at her in a low voice. He could see the intoxication in her eyes and smell the alcohol in her breath.

“Enough? I’ll tell you of what I have enough.” She replied drunkenly. Her glass fell to the floor and shattered into pieces as she tried to yank her arm from his grasp. Caress burst out laughing. She almost fell down. After regaining her balance she went on. “You have to make up your mind which one of us it’s going to be...me or Alexis. You can’t have us both.”

“Caress, please keep your voice down!” He claimed, looking warningly into her eyes.

“I love you, and I know you love me too.” She said, her mood suddenly turning from anger to desperation.

“This isn’t the time or the place for this.” Zach replied, wanting to put an end to this embarrassing scene. He took her arm and led Caress below deck into their bedroom to sleep it off ... then Caress memory went blank.

Back to the present...

Caress tossed in bed. She had to find out what had happened afterwards. How had Ricardo’s blood come on her dress? She couldn’t even remember having talked to him that night. Alexis and Zach surely knew the truth, but had agreed to keep it secret. She had to drive a wedge between her sister and Zachary Powers and play one off against the other. Maybe so one of them would eventually reveal the truth to her.

The Stratford Hotel, Amanda’s suite – Rome, Italy.

The knocking at her suite door startled Amanda, and she dropped the book she had been reading, and when she opened the door and saw the look of joy on Jeff’s face she light up as well.

“Jeff, I’ve been so worried about you” she said with her hands on her hips. “Where have you been?”

“I’ve been looking into what Mr. Richards had told us this afternoon, and I’ve discovered some interesting facts.”

“What?”

Jeff took her through the steps of the day, First he had talked to the administrators of the Clinic where Sable was staying and found out two very interesting things, One Sable had been transferred three days before they arrived, and Two when Sable left the Clinic, and she was still in a coma.

“So she didn’t write the letter?” Amanda questioned.

“No, and I also found out that our Mr. Richards was paid to misinform Dex.”

“By who?”

“Well I went and asked him that myself, and after some persuasion,” Jeff smiled, and Amanda knew that his fists had something to do with that. “He told me that this was all set up by Monica.”

“No, she couldn’t.”

“I can’t believe it myself, but he told me that she blames Dex for everything that has happened to Sable, and wants Dex to pay for it.”

“So what are we going to tell Dex?”

Jeff frowned. “I think we should keep this to ourselves, I think that we should send Dex back to Denver, and then you and I are traveling to Paris.”

“Why Paris” Amanda asked?

“Because that is where Monica and Sable are.”

Steven’s Apartment, the Next Morning

Lindsay woke up, she heard the water running grabbed a flannel shirt and headed toward the door. She heard the bell ringing.

“Hello, can I help you?” Lindsay kindly asked.

“Hi, I’m Sammy Jo, Steven’s ex, is he around?” Sammy Jo asked forcing a smile. She didn’t like what she saw.

“I’m Georgia, Steven’s still in the shower, I’ll tell him you’re here.” Lindsay turned to leave as Sammy Jo watched her. Who did she remind her of?

“I think I’ll wait” Sammy Jo said and headed for the kitchen, checking out the refrigerator and putting stuff into the blender. She poured the drink she made and was about to head back into living room when Steven walked in.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Steven asked angrily while Lindsay waited in the living room, hearing each word they are saying.

“Well nice to see you too!” Sammy answered amused. Steven’s hair was still wet and he was wearing his new Princeton jump suit.

“You should have called!” He replied.

“I did but I guess you were busy” she retorted.

Steven was upset enough about the situation and angrier now that Sammy Jo saw him too.

“Here to gloat?” Steven ye.

“Absolutely, I’m here to rub it in that Jim chose me and he’s all mine.” Sammy Jo yelled back.

“Well, I hope you two are happy together!” Steven said sarcastically, his voice still loud.

“Thanks, after you Jim is a walk in the park. It’s nice to see you are handling rejection so well.” Sammy Jo added.

“I’m fine!”

“Fine, there’s a half naked lady in your apartment and I can’t imagine the headache you’re feeling right. Yeah, you’re great”

Lindsay walked into the kitchen, hearing the argument and smiled. Steven was suffering, just like she wanted. After spending the night with him, she realized how painful it was for Steven to see Sammy Jo happy with someone else; knowing it can never be him. Deciding to add her bit to the argument she yelled “Steven, I have to go, thank you for an amazing night, we should do it again sometime.” She smiled.

Steven was about to answer Sammy Jo when he heard Georgia.

“Georgia, I…” Steven began seeing the worried look on Sammy Jo’s face.

“Call me later; I’m leaving your favorite shirt on the sofa, bye!” Georgia added.

Steven and Sammy Jo heard the door slammed. Sammy Jo angry face turned concerned.

“Your favorite shirt?” She whispered quietly. Steven stared after the kitchen door. Sammy Jo recognized that shirt; she bought it for Steven as a sort of goodbye present in NYC. When Steven first moved in with her back to the ranch, he wanted to help around but didn’t have the proper cloths. She bought him a pair of overall jeans and some flannel shirts. It was their private little joke. The funny part was that the shirt Georgia was wearing, back in NYC, Sammy Jo ended up wearing it more than him. Now it was his favorite shirt, she was really worried.

“Where were we, oh yes? A half naked lady, you’re just jealous it wasn’t you!” Steven said angrily.

“Oh yes, I’m jealous, that’s it. Personally, I like my lovers sober, not completely drunk! Steven what are you doing to yourself?” she asked worried.

“I can take care of myself. You have Jim, what you care! Stay out of my life Sammy Jo!” Steven said.

“Oh no, I’m not going to let you destroy your life over this. “ Sammy Jo said.

“Sammy Jo, I’m a big boy. Leave me alone.” Steven wailed.

“Oh I’m sorry, I forgot, you’re supposed to take of everyone, no one is allowed to worry about you. Sorry but this relationship goes both ways.” Sammy Jo answered.

“Why are you here? Is it so hard for you to accept that Jim chose you? Damn it Sammy Jo you deserve to be happy!” Steven yelled.

“Chose me right? I wish! What really annoys you that he chose me over you or that he can be with me in ways you can’t?” Sammy Jo yelled back.

“Really, I think I proved otherwise in NYC.” Steven retorted.

“Not to mention last night!” Sammy Jo joked, she was tired of this fight and she was getting nauseous.

Suddenly, all what Steven could do was laugh, realizing how absurd this argument was getting.

“What? what?!” she didn’t understand.

“Look at us, fighting like kids” he laugh, and dragged Sammy Jo into it.

“Oh Steven…” Sammy Jo began to laugh too. They sat down on the chair and laughed for minutes, until Sammy Jo stopped in once.

“Boy… I didn’t laugh so much for decades!” she said.

“I know… me either. And it’s feels good, you know? It’s remind me how much we enjoyed in New York”

“Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk with you about” Sammy Jo said.

“Me too as a matter of fact” Steven surprised her. “

“What about New York?” she wondered.

“It’s more about Danny… did you know Ashley is back in Denver?” he asked.

“She is?”

“Yes. Joseph and Cathy saw her in the mansion the other day; don’t you think it’s strange?”

“It certainly is. I thought she was in Israel”

“Well I guess she came back to Denver”

“Does Danny know about that?”

“He knows now” Steven said.

“Oh, Steven…”

“What? She didn’t tell him nothing about that she’s coming back so soon. It’s really wired, Sammy Jo”

“Maybe she wanted to surprise him or something”

“So you think I ruined a surprise?”

“Well I’m sure it’s nothing”

“I hope so. Any way… what did you want to tell me?”

“Well…” She began when her face became paled.

“What, what’s the matter, is something wrong?” he asked when he saw how paled her face became.

“Well depends how you look on it”

“Look on what? What are you talking about?” he wondered.

“I’m pregnant, Steven. And I think it’s yours”

Steven was shocked.

Rome International Airport

“Well I wish the two of you were coming to Wyoming with me.” Dex said as they waited for their flights, Dex for Wyoming, and Jeff and Amanda for Paris.

“I’m sorry Dex, but there are some things that I have to clear up in London” Amanda lied. “And Jeff has agreed to help me.”

She was interrupted by the announcement of Dex’s flight. “Well that’s my call” Dex, stood up and hugged Amanda and shook Jeff’s hand. “Thank you both for all of your help, I can never repay you for all of your kindness.”

“We will see you soon.” Jeff said, as they walked away to their gate.

Amanda turned to him and said. “I hate lying to him.”

“Yes but it’s for the best. I don’t want to get his hopes up until I talk to my cousin.”

Amanda smiled up at him, and all his strength, “Okay, I have complete trust you.”

La Mirage Hotel, Fallon’s office

Fallon smiled across the desk, this was the third person this week to give her their two weeks notice, and Fallon couldn’t understand why every one had followed Harold Morris footsteps, and causing her problems.

“Well I’m very sorry that your career with us is coming to an end, but thank you.” Fallon said as she shook the woman’s hand, and after she left. Fallon picked up the phone. “Shelly, could you ask Mr. Morris to come to my office now.”

A few minutes later the smug Harold Morris entered the room “Is something wrong Mrs. Colby.” He asked as he walked in.

“Please have a seat.” Fallon said as she indicated the chair across form her. “Well I’m sure that you’ve heard that our head reservationist has put in her two weeks.”

Harold couldn’t hide his smile. “Yes, Margie told me that this morning.”

“And I’m sure you had nothing to do with her discussion.” Fallon didn’t hide her anger, she was going to have it out with him once and for all, and if it meant his leaving La Mirage so be it.

“Why would I have something to do with her leaving?”

“Because you’ve resented me ever since I took over the daily operations here, and you have been a constant thorn in my side ever since.” Fallon calmed down. “Look Harold, you are a wonderful operations manager, and I would hate to loose you, but you have to understand that I run La Mirage and I have the final say in what goes on here.”

“Well I think the hotel was running just fine when I was behind that desk.” Harold spat.

Fallon smiled, that was it, it wasn’t the fact that Fallon was a woman that Harold resented, it was the fact that she had taken over his job. “Well, I’m sorry that you feel this way, but since we put in place all of my changes, our cliental has tripled.”

“I agree with that, but I had similar ideas in the works before Mrs. Sable Colby’s accident.”

“Harold I think that if you and I try to work things out that things would be a lot better for the both of us here if you and I could work out our differences.”

“The only way that would happened is if you daddy gives you another assignment.”

That was the nail that broke Fallon. “My father didn’t give me this job, I earned it.”

“You have never worked hard for a day in you life, you rich Carrington’s are all the same, everything on a silver platter.” Harold said as he began to leave.

“Listen here you self-centered bastard. I was running this hotel before you were out of high school, and if you will take your head out of the clouds, you might learn a thing or two form me.” Fallon said as she shut the door behind him.

“Oh that man gets under my skin.” She said as swent back to her chair, and looked out the window. “I earned this job, I know I did.”

Meanwhile outside Harold Morris smiled as he picked up his cell phone. “Yes sir I just met with the Colby woman, Yes, I’m making her stay here very difficult.”

Jim’s apartment

LB and Ashley had been lying down on Jim’s sofa at the living room, frittering with each other. Now that Jim knethey are together, they could spent some time together in his apartment. The only thing they were afraid of was that Sammy Jo would find out Ashley is there. Jim promised Ashley he won’t say anything until she’ll talk with Danny, but he did warn her things sometimes discovered from them.

“You sure Jim won’t be here all day?” LB wanted to be sure.

“Positive. He will be in the hospital ‘till evening. Then he’s going to Sammy Jo”

“Sammy Jo… I hope he won’t tell her anything”

“Jim is cool, he won’t say anything, believe me” she loved Jim and trusted him.

“What ever you say… as long we can be together, without any disturbs” he smiled and kissed her when her cell phone rang. “Ignore it” he said and caressed her hair.

“It could be important, LB”

“Nobody knows you’re back, its probably wrong number” he convinced her. “And besides, we have some much important things to do, aren’t we?” he asked smiling while he took his shirt off.

“We certainly do” she smiled back and they kissed passionately.

“Come on, Ashley… answer the phone, come on” Danny knocked nervous on the table in his room at the dormitories…

Acapulco, Zach’s yacht, the study

Zach sat at his desk, going over some papers when Alexis entered the study. He looked up and smiled at her. She seemed to be relaxed and good-humored, something she hadn’t been in the last months. His deal was all settled already, but Zach intended to put off their return to Denver as long as possible. Alexis walked up to him and sat on the edge of the desk.

“So, what did you do all afternoon?” He inquired.

“The second most satisfying thing... was spending other money.”

“And are you satisfied?” He playfully asked.

She slightly shrugged her shoulders. “Yes, maybe...” She replied with a grin on her lips, looking at the paperwork on his desk. His letter opener caught her attention. Slowly she leaned over and picked it up.

Alexis’s facial expression was suddenly very serious. The object she was holding in her hands remembered her of the most horrible moment in her life…

Flashback: Caracas, later that night

Alexis circulated among the other guests at the party while Zach took care of Caress, who was completely drunk. Alexis had made up her mind; she wanted Zachary Powers even if that meant hurting her sister. Her relationship to Ricardo Chávez had lost all of its romanticism and fascination after their affair had caused Ricardo his candidature in the upcoming parliamentary election. His party had dumped him for moral reasons when he had refused to return to his wife and children. The crash of his political career had built a rift between Alexis and him. Unwilling to accept his failing he had started to blame Alexis for it, and they had argued more and more often until she had left him.

“I knew I would find you here.” Alexis heard a voice behind her.

“Ricardo? What are you doing here?” She asked in surprise as her former lover suddenly stood in front of her.

“I need to talk to you.” He pleaded.

“I have nothing more to say to you, I said it all.” She replied firmly. “I think you’d better leave!” She added, looking around for Zach.

“Then only listen to me!” He begged desperately.

“Alright but not here.” Alexis gave in unwillingly. She descended the stairs below deck and headed toward the study. Ricardo followed her.

“Fine, what do you want?” She asked in an aggravate tone.

“I had to see you... I’ve been miserable without you. I need you...” He explained, reaching out for her.

Alexis rolled her eyes and sighed. “Ricardo, why you’re making this unnecessarily complicated?”

“Because I love you. I would do anything for you.” He revealed. “I know the past weeks were difficult for you, but we can work things out.”

“No Ricardo, it’s past that point. Please, accept that’s over.” She persisted not willing to change her mind.

“You can’t do that to me! You can’t dump me after I left my family and lost my candidature because of you.”

Alexis couldn’t help but feeling guilty, but she tried to shake that feeling off. “That’s not my fault. I offered you to go back to your wife to save your candidature. It was solely your decision.”

“Yes, because I only love you. Can’t you see that?” He threw in, his voice a mixture of anger and frustration.

“What ever you feel for me, it’s not love. You want to own me.” She replied harshly.

“It’s because of that bastard Powers, isn’t it?” He asked, his jealousy taking control of him.

Alexis wanted to put a definite end to this discussion and their relationship. Obviously she had to hurt him first to accomplish that. “Yes, I want to be with Zachary. I don’t love you anymore. I love him.”

Ricardo grabbed her arm violently. “You whore…what is it, his money?” He shouted.

Alexis yanked her arm free of his grip and slapped him across his face. “You’ll never call me that again.”

Rage began to rise inside him. His pride didn’t tolerate this kind of behavior from a woman. “How dare you!” He hissed at Alexis, raising his hand and furiously slapping her face, nearly knocking her off balance.

Alexis was shocked about his brutality. Her cheek hurt. She touched her lips. It was breeding. She tried to regain her composure. “Listen, I don’t want to see you ever again.” She said with determination, making her way to the door.

He held her back. “I’m sorry, darling. I never meant to hurt you. I love you. You only provoked me.” He tried to apologize.

“Let go of me!” Alexis demanded.

“Didn’t you here what she said?” Zach Powers interrupted, standing in the doorway.

“Stay out of it! That’s something between Alexis and me.” The Venezuelan shouted at Zach.

“I think you need to get some facts straight. This is my yacht and you’re not welcome here. I suggest you’re leaving before I have you thrown from board.” Zach went on.

“Alright, I’m leaving. But she’s going with me.” He said, grabbed Alexis’s arm violently again. “Come on, we’re leaving!” He ordered.

“No,” she tried to hit him in attempt to break free from his grasp.

Zach interfered, attacking him. “Let go of her!” Alexis fell onto the floor while the two men struggled with each other.

Zach managed to push his adversary away, but Ricardo lunged at him, punching him in the stomach. The two were about to start beating each other furiously when Ricardo’s next swung at Zach missed and he lost his balance, falling onto the desk. While regaining his feet he grabbed the letter opener that had caught his eyes, brandishing it at Zach.

Zach held one hand up. “Don’t do something stupid.” He warned him. Unexpected he grabbed his wrist to take control of the letter opener. It fell to the floor and both men tried to get hold of it.

Alexis watched the two men wrestling with each other on the floor. “Stop it, both of you!” She gasped in horror as she heard a cry. Alexis stood in shock, afraid of what had happened.

Zach got slowly up after a few seconds while Ricardo’s body lay lifeless on the floor. The letter opener stuck out of his chest and his shirt was red with blood. Zach felt for a pulse. He looked up at Alexis and shook his head. The letter opener had stabbed his heart. Death was instantaneous.

Alexis collapsed onto the floor. “Ricardo!” She called out, tears welling up in her eyes. “No! No! No!” Alexis repeatedly exclaimed through her tears, holding his head. “Please do something, Zach.” She cried, looking up at him.

Zach stepped away, horrified of what he had done. He tried to gather his thoughts. “His body has to vanish.” He suddenly said.

Alexis stopped crying. “What do you mean?” She asked astonished.

“His death is something I can’t be connected to. Nobody must know.” He explained.

“But it was an accident.” Alexis defended what had happened.

“What is if the police don’t believe us? I’m not risking spending time in jail.” He said wdetermination.

Alexis remembered the article about the unsolved death of Zach’s former wife. The charge against him had been dropped only in default of evidence. She started to wonder if it really had been only an accident like Zach had always asserted, or had it been murder.

“Go back at the party and act as if nothing has happened. I change and follow.” Zach instructed Alexis, taking off his bloodstained shirt. “Let’s decide later what wdo with him.” He said, pointing his head at Ricardo’s body.

“No Zach, I can’t go back…” She started to object, but Zach cut her off. “Don’t lose your nerve now. You have to pull yourself together and go out there.” He insisted, taking her by the shoulders and making her looking at him. “I’m doing that for us.” He reassured her. Alexis nodded, calming down. She smoothed out her dress, checked her make-up and left the room.

Two hours later the party seemed finally coming to an end and the guests started to say their good-byes and leave. Alexis and Zach had managed to act as normal and composed as nothing had been out of the ordinary when suddenly Caress came above deck, crying hysterically. Unable to keep her balance she collapsed to her knees.

Everybody at the party turned around and looked at her. Some guests gasped as they noticed the blood on her hands and her dress.

Alexis was in a state of shock. She looked with wide eyes at Zach, who starred at Caress, a new plan forming in his head.

Back to the present...

“What’s the matter? You looked fare away for a few seconds.” Zach asked, rousing Alexis out of her thoughts.

She handed the letter opener to him without a word, but he understood immediately. Zach leaned back in his chair. “Please Alexis, let the past stay buried.”

“I can’t, Zach. Being here together with you in Acapulco brought back so many memories... Ricardo’s accident, Caress’s trial. I still remember how she was dragged out of the court room after the sentence with a verdict of guilty, calling my name over and over again and pleading me to help her.”

“What’s that Alexis, late pangs of conscience?” Zach asked sarcastically.

Alexis stood up and walked around to the other side of the desk. “You promised me that she wouldn’t be sending to jail.”

“Her conviction was an unfortunate accident and not my fault. I never said she killed that man. The district attorney’s office assumed that she did and the court passed a judicial error. She was completely drunk and had no motive, she shouldn’t have get convicted.”

“But she did.” Alexis threw in. “I know how it feels to get convicted although you are innocent.” Alexis explained, referring to the Marc Jennings trial.

“But Caress doesn’t know that she was not responsible for Ricardo’s death.” He replied with indifference in his voice.

“But she could find out.”

“So that’s what this unnecessary conversation is all about, you’re afraid of her?” He asked, leaning over his desk and folding his hands.

“How about you, aren’t you afraid she could discover the truth one day?”

Zach let out a little laugh like to prove his self-assurance. “I’m afraid of nothing. That’s what made me to the successful businessman I am today. Otherwise I still would be the poor Greek immigrant. I do what’s necessary. I never look back and I never regret anything.” He assured her, approaching Alexis. He ran his fingers along her cheek under her chin and lifted her face up to make her look in his eyes. “And you’re like me.”

“No,” she objected, pushing his hand away.

“You are and you know it, don’t try to deny it.” He reassured her. “Besides, you hate her. She took ColbyCo away from you. She maybe even tried to kill you, or have you already forgotten what happened at the Charity ball?” He reminded her.

“No, I haven’t.” Alexis dismissed his remark. She had noticed that her sister had changed into a different person. Probably the prison had changed her. But Alexis also knew who was responsible for it.

The Carlton Restaurant

“I’m pregnant, Steven. And I think it’s yours” Steven could still hear Sammy Jo’s words. He couldn’t believe it. What are they going to do? Especially now, that they decided to broke up and Jim choose to stay with Sammy Jo.

“Steven? Steven!” Lindsay called over and over again.

“Oh, I’m sorry. You said something?”

“I said we were amazing together… weren’t we?” Lindsay smiled. The restaurant was full. Lindsay liked it here, the high class living, Mr. Woo taught her about. Unlike the life she led with her parents.

“Yes, but it won’t happen again…” Steven lied he hardly remembered what happened. His thought wasn’t with her now. He was so confused.

“I know, it was a one night stand, Steven, you are a wonderful lover.” Lindsay interrupted him.

“Thanks, but women aren’t exactly my type. I’m gay. As wonderful as the other night was it shouldn’t happen again.” Steven continued.

“Well I hope we can be friends!” Lindsay added.

“Wonderful!” Steven smiled there was something about her. He reminded of a long lost friend. He certainly needed a friend these days.

“It must have been hard accepting your homosexuality.” Lindsay commented.

“Yes, it was, but I have and so has my family, I just hurt a lot of people on the way.” Steven signed.

“Really, I’m sure you didn’t mean to. “ Lindsay said.

“I’ve hurt my son and my wives.” Steven explained.

“Wives” Lindsay felt a pang in her heart.

“I was married twice to Sammy Jo whom you’ve met and another woman, Claudia.” Steven explained.

“And what was she like?” Lindsay asked fascinated.

“She was a wonderful woman caring and kind. She helped me raise Danny. No one understood me the way she did, at least back then.” Steven answered.

“Back then?” Lindsay asked.

“She died several years ago. She led a very difficult life.” Steven explained.

“Difficult?” Lindsay inquired. Being in the middle of nowhere, she hadn’t heard much about her mother.

“It’s a long story. Let’s just say she deserved better than she got. When I first met her, she was recovering from a mental illness and in a loveless marriage.” Steven explained.

“Why? Her husband didn’t love her?” Lindsay asked upset.

Steven was a bit taken back by her behavior. “Trust me. When he came back to Denver, eventually, he didn’t even ask about her, all he cares about was Krystle.” Steven added.

Lindsay composed herself. All of them liars, her father loved her mother very much! If hadn’t been for Steven, they could still be together. She could see why her mother fell in love with him. He came off as kind and loving but he was a liar and a cheat.

“How did she die?” Lindsay asked.

“In a fire at La Mirage.” Steven said sadly. He did miss her.

“Poor woman!” Lindsay cried.

The waiter approached with the bill. “Thanks.” Steven smiled.

“So she’s your favorite wife?” Lindsay asked.

Steven smiled. He got up, “Shall we?” Lindsay question stuck a nerve, he knew the answer but it surprised him.

“Walk me to my car?” Lindsay asked.

“Sure! I had a great time. We should do this again!” Steven looked around. He liked her. He felt comfortable with her.

“Me too!” Lindsay smiled, and then looked to the restaurant’s center. Jim and Sammy Jo were sitting in a table, having dinner. She smiled to herself. Exactly like she and Jim planned.

“Hey, isn’t it Sammy Jo there?” she pointed to their direction.

“Oh, yes” Steven wasn’t so happy to see them.

“Come on, let’s just say hi” she grabbed him by hand and let him to their table.

“Jim, Sammy Jo!” Steven said.

“Hi Steven!” Sammy Jo smiled.

“You remember Georgia, Sammy Jo”

“Yes of course I do. Jim, Georgia, Jim” Sammy Jo introduced between them. Jim and Georgia shook hands, smiling to each other. It was a perfect show.

“How are you feeling, Sammy Jo?” Steven asked her as he bent down to kiss her cheek.

“I’m fine, just tired.” Sammy Jo smiled, Steven looked happy. They haven’t talked since she told him. They both needed time to digest the situation and then discuss it.

Jim and Lindsay didn’t like what they saw. Last they knew Sammy Jo and Steven were arguing.

“Well, it nice to see you again, Steven, now I’m sure you and your lady friend have better things to do. Sammy Jo and I would like tobe alone.” Jim stated.

“Jim, really…” Sammy Jo was annoyed.

“No, it’s okay. I just came to say hello.” Steven explained.

“Why don’t you do us all a favor and stay the hell out of Sammy Jo’s life once and for all?” Jim taunted Steven.

“Get something straight Jim, I will always be a part of Sammy Jo’s life.” Steven turned to Jim angrily.

“Would you two just stop it?” Sammy Jo yelled watching Lindsay enjoining the incident.

“Steven has made his choice he should abide by it!” Jim answered.

“I am!” Steven said.

“By not lSammy Jo alone you mean?” Jim asked and Sammy Jo got up; she’s had it. “Goodnight Jim!” Sammy Jo walked away.

“Sammy Jo wait…” Jim stood up and tried to follow her but Steven stopped him.

“You heard her, leave her alone.” Steven said.

“Mind your own business, Steven.” Jim stated.

“Sammy Jo is my business! Good night Jim! Georgia, I’ll talk to you tomorrow, excuse me” Steven said as he turned to follow Sammy Jo.

“Are you okay?” Steven asked when he finally caught up with her.

“Yes, just starving.” Sammy Jo answered.

“How about a ride home and we’ll grab something on the way?” Steven suggested.

“That sounds great. But what about your date” Sammy Jo asked.

“Oh no, my cell phone, I’ll be right back…” Steven headed back to the restaurant; he probably left it on his table.

“Damn it, I’ll never win against him. He’ll always have her heart.” Jim signed.

“Of course you will, you just need to be patient” Lindsay said.

“We’ll make sure of it and I know exactly where to start.” Jim caressed Lindsay’s cheek.

Lindsay kissed him passionately as Steven watched from across the room, all amazed.

The Carrington Estate, Adam’s room

Krystle was worried, no one had seen or heard form Adam since yesterday, and that wasn’t like him, although Krystle knew that Adam wasn’t himself lately.

But the thing that had bothered her most was that he hadn’t visited with Joseph, and he always had done that in the past. He loved his son, and enjoyed their quiet time playing, reading, or what ever in the evening after work.

But this evening Adam didn’t come home, and now Krystle was worried, so she decided to look in his room. She opened the door hoping to find Adam asleep, but all she found was and empty room.

She looked around, and found going over to the bathroom door that was ajar, and looked in, she noticed that the medicine cabinet was open, and its contents were missing. That was odd, she went back into the main room, and noticed that some of the drawers were open, and they were empty as well. “Oh No” she thought.

Krystle’s suspicions were confirmed when she opened the closet to find most of Adam’s cloths missing. “Oh god Adam, what have you done?”

La Mirage Hotel, the file room

It was nearly eleven p.m. before Fallon packed her things up to leave, she had to fill three positions, and maybe a fourth. She wanted to be ready for tomorrow, so she had set up interviews for the whole day.

As she was locking up her office she noticed that a light was on in the filing room. She looked over at the front desk, and Chris wasn’t at his post, so she assumed that he must of need something for the mornings check outs, so she decided to say good night. “Maybe by sucking up, I can save him form quitting as well.”

As she got closer to the door she heard talking, and thought that maybe Chris and one of the maids were having a late night romp in the filing room, but then she realized that the other voice she heard was Harold Morris, and so she slide behind the door, so that they wouldn’t notice her.

“No listen here Chris I’m paying you a small fortune. I want you to replace nightly one of these ledgers her with a slightly altered one.”

“But Mrs. Colby” he began, but Harold cut him off.

“I don’t give a damn about Fallon Colby, and neither does my boss.” Harold said. “We have to replace the books here to make it look like La Mirage is a loosing venture for Denver Carrington, that way-“ He stopped mid sentence when he heard a noise outside, and the two of them walked out of the room to check.

Fallon slid away form the door, and behind two potted palms, and Harold and Chris walked right past her. “I guess it was nothing.” Harold said as he handed Chris the ledger. “Now take this, and replace it with January’s ledger. My boss wants this finished by the time of the second quarter audit.”

“All right I’ll do it, but I don’t like the fact that we have to make Mrs. Colby look bad in the process.”

“I really don’t care what you think, if you want to keep your house, and then you will repay my boss.” Harold said as he walked away, and Chris went back to the front desk.

“Now what is going on here?” Fallon wondered as she went into the file room, and as she checked each month’s ledgers, they were all in black ink. La Mirage was a money maker, “Now why would they want to make La Mirage look like it was loosing money.”

Fallon shut off the light, and walked out past the front desk and smiled at Chris, and as she was driving home she wondered what kind of mystery she stumbled on to. “Well I always liked reading Nancy Drew, now I can finally be her, but I also need a partner, and there is only one man I trust to help me solve this mystery.”

She smiled as she picked up the phone and dialed. It was an hour earlier where she was calling and when a man's voice answered Fallon sighed. “Hello Miles, I need you. Come back to me in Denver.”

The Dexter Co. Jet, somewhere over Michigan

Dex had had a long flight back to the states, and he was anxious to get back to Denver, but first he thought he would stop in Wyoming to see his sister, and catch up on things there.

What he really wanted was to get as far away form Sable’s memory until he could straighten things up, and put the pieces of his life back together, but he couldn’t deny the fact that he had screwed things up, and it had cost him Sable and his son.

“Well maybe the hot Wyoming air will do me some good.” He said aloud to no one.

His thoughts were interrupted by the pilots over the loud speaker. “Mr. Dexter, I’m sorry, but we are having some engine troubles, could you please buckle you seatbelt.”

Dex looked out the window, and noticed that a small stream of smoke tailed the left engine; he buckled his belt, as the turbulence began. “Oh my god” Dex shouted, as the engine burst into hot flames……

Denver Memorial Hospital

Jim still upset from his bad date with Sammy Jo entered the lab room of the hospital. Lindsay followed behind. She was still angry that Sammy Jo and Steven were getting along; she was hoping Jim and she would come between them. Something had to be done. Her newfound relationship with Steven excited her. At least that was going according to her plan.

“Jim what are we doing here? I thought we were going to my hotel room.” Lindsay whispered quietly.

“I think Sammy Jo is pregnant, I just want to make sure.” Jim explained.

“What, from whom?”

“That’s what I would like to know” he stated.

“Well, if it’s yours, it’ll be perfect. We can push Steven completely out of her life and she’ll be all yours.” Lindsay smirked.

“I hope so. I still think I could have continued dating them both.” Jim signed. He entered Dr. Kay’s password and looked for Sammy Jo blood work.

“You and I both know that you would have chosen Sammy Jo in the end. Steven was for fun. Considering how he is in bed I can understand!” Lindsay smiled.

“You didn’t…” Jim shook his head.

“He was drunk; I used it to my advantage.” Lindsay explained.

“She pregnant…” Jim mumbled.

“You should be happier. You’re going to be a father.” Lindsay said.

“I was one, still am, I didn’t plan on doing it again. Damn!” Jim yelled

“Oh come on, think about that, it could be great if it will turned out you are the father!” Lindsay looked into the computer.

“Well guess what, it’s not mine…” Jim explained.

“But it could be, right?” Lindsay asked him, all smiling. Jim smiled back as we FADE OUT…
