“The Perfect Solution”

Published day: May 5, 2002

The Carrington Mansion – LB’s room

“Ashley!” LB was still shocked to see her standing outside his doorstep.

“Well aren’t you going to invite him in?”

“Hmm... yes, sure… I’m just…”

“Surprised?” she asked as she entered the room, closing the door behind her.

“Well yes. I thought you were in Israel already”

“I was there. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you”

“Really?”

“Yep!” she said and sat next to him on the bed. “Let’s just say my aunt made me see what I left here in Denver

“And what did you leave?”

“You of course!” she smiled and kissed him.

“Ashley, I’m…” LB began but she hushed him, continued to kiss him and they both were overcome with passion and made love.

Jim’s apartment – the same night

“Hey Jim, it’s me. I’m coming back to Denver. Don’t ask. It's a long story, but I’ll be in touch” Ashley’s voice was heard from the answering machine.

“Already?”  Jim wondered. Ashley left Denver only three days ago. Now she was already coming back. What is going on here? He wondered as he looked on the dresser at Ashley’s picture. The shrill ringing of the doorbell disturbed his thoughts.

“Hello, Jim” Steven smiled. Jim was surprised. He wondered if Steven knew something about Ashley coming back, but decided not to say anything. They had other important things to talk about.

“Steven, come on in!” he greeted him. Steven entered and turned to Jim who closed the door. “I’m glad you here. We really have to talk”

“Well…” Steven came closer to Jim. “I didn’t come here to talk, Jim” he said and before Jim could say something Steven kissed him passionately.

“Steven…” Jim tried.

“Shh…No talking tonight” Steven hushed him and began taking Jim’s clothes off. Jim carried away with him, and they both felt on the sofa, making love.

The Carrington Mansion – the same night

Fallon entered the living room and gave her father glass of water. He was quite upset after the chief announced the police decided to close the case against the consortium, mainly because the organization did not exist anymore.

“Take this, daddy” she served him the glass.

“Thank you sweetheart” the old man thanked his daughter.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Carrington. I didn’t want to upset you” the chief apologiesed.

“Well you certainly succeed to do that!” Fallon attacked him.

“Fallon, please” Krystle interfered and turned to the chief.

“What are you going to do now; obviously you won’t stop looking for the person who is working from the sidelines of this group.” Krystle asked naively.

“That is exactly what they’re going to do” Blake said to her, still angry.

“Mr. Carrington – I know it is hard to understand, especially since those people hunted you for so long, but we can’t look for something that does not exist anymore”

“I want to know exactly who told you the consortium is no longer a functioning corporation.” Fallon interfered.

“Mrs. Colby, we have our sources”

“So I want to know your sources!” she insisted. The chief looked at her, helpless, he didn’t know what to say, when they heard a door slamming suddenly and two seconds later Adam entered the room, all upset.

“Father, Father!” He stormed in, paled.   “I saw her, she was there!”

“Who?” Blake asked, confused.

“Dana. She was at the cemetery! She asked me to help her but I couldn’t! You have to come with me – now!” he almost yelled. Blake, Krystle, Fallon and the chief looked at him, and began to wonder, after finding out that there was no one at the Christmas square, the small abandoned club in Denver, The family, and the police as well had a hard time believing anything Adam Carrington said.

“Mr. Carrington, can I talk with you in private?” the chief turned to Blake.

“I think you better go now” Fallon told him, but the chief ignored her and came closer to Blake.

“It’s about your son” he whispered to Blake. The old man looked at Adam who was still standing upset in the doorway.

“You have to believe me all of you, she was really there” Adam almost cried.

“Come on, Adam. Let’s go, you need some rest” Krystle took Adam by his arm and they left the living room. The chief waited till they were out and turned back to Blake.

“Did you find something about my son’s ex-wife?” Blake asked him.

“Not yet, but we know for a fact she or Mrs. Litton weren’t at the Christmas square the night your son been attacked” the chief said.

“Are you sure about that?” Blake asked.

“Positive, forensics did a sweep of the area, and nothing had been disturbed in years.”

“So who attacked Adam?” Fallon asked.

“I’m afraid he was mugged.” the chief answered. “It’s appeared that three men attacked him and stole his money. We have a reason to believe they also sent him the fax and asked him to bring the money to the square”

“How could they have sent that fax?” Blake asked.

“Well your son was very vocal with his search for Mrs. Warring, and placed several ads in the paper trying to find her, one of these guys took a photo of Mrs. Warring, and manipulated in on his computer, and then sent the fax.”

“What about Mrs. Litton?” Fallon began to understand what is going on.

“There is no sign to her, or of Mrs. Warring. I’m sorry, but it’s seems like your son made up this entire story” the chief said and Blake looked at his daughter.

“What a surprise” Fallon whispered to herself…

The Stratford Hotel, Rome, Italy

Amanda gently knocked for the forth time, since the hotel clerk had alerted her to Dex’s return. She was anxious to find out what had happened after Dex’s visit to the Clinic where Sable was registered.

“Dex, open the door, It’s Amanda.” She said quietly.

Dex was in no shape, or no mood to receive visitors. “Can’t you take a hint.” He bellowed as he opened the door. “I don’t want to see anybody.”

Amanda frowned Dex was obviously drunk. “Dex I’m coming in and there is nothing you can do to stop me.” Amanda said as she barged past him.

“Suit yourself.”

She looked around the room; Dex had raided the mini bar. Something was bothering Dex, and she knew it was the meeting with Sable. “Dex, please come over here”

Dex looked like a child being scolded by his school teacher as he sat down. “I’m sorry. I’m not upset with you.” He turned away, and Amanda knew it had something to do with the clinic.

“Dex” Amanda began. “You and I have known each other for a long time.” She put her hand gently on his shoulder, and he turned towards her. “I know something tremendously painful happened this afternoon, but you mustn’t sit her drowning in your sorrows.” She smiled up into his hazy eyes. “Please tell me what happened.”

Dex took a deep breath, and then began his story. “It was horrible. I went into Sable’s room and there she was so horribly burned. She cried out and told me to leave, and never come back.”

Amanda was shocked. “Oh my god, poor Sable.”

Dex shook his head. “But you don’t understand, Mr. Richards made a mistake, that woman wasn’t Sable. I checked with the staff, and Monica had Sable transferred earlier this week.”

“Oh thank god it wasn’t her.” Amanda said relieved. The thought of Sable going threw life horribly disfigured was too much to bear.

“It’s over, I can’t go on searching. It just drains me to much.”

“Dex, you mustn’t give up.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore. Monica will never let me find her.”

Amanda noticed Dex’s slurred words, She knew he had been through too much in the last few months, more that anyone should have to go threw, She helped him to his bed, and wouldn’t leave his side until she was sure he was asleep.

“Oh Dex, if only mother were her to help you” she said to herself when Dex gotten into deep sleep.

The Carrington Mansion- Adam’s room

Krystle had just put Adam to bed; he had been ranting and raving about seeing Dana at the Cemetery earlier in the day. It had taken all of Krystle’s strength to force him to take the medication the doctors at left him.

As she was about to leave the room she began to pick up his clothing, and began to put it away, when a piece of paper fell out of one of the pockets.

After Krystle put the suite jacket in the closet, she began to read the document, and the words on the paper shocked her. “Oh no Adam, no……” She looked at the paper again just to make sure she read it right. “I have to look into this, before I tell Blake.”

Kyle’s apartment

“Kyle? Are you here?” Krystina asked when she entered to the apartment, holding a suitcase in her arm.

“In the kitchen!” Kyle called. Krystina put down the suitcase and entered the kitchen, finding him, trying to make a salad.

“Hey… what are you doing?” she asked while kissing him.

“You said you were coming, so I thought I would fix dinner” he answered.

“Oh, you silly… how could you possibly fix dinner with one hand bandaged? Here, let me help you” she joined him. “You go and sit relax” she ordered him and took command in the kitchen.

“Krystina…” he protested.

“No, don’t you argue with me. Out!” she grabbed his other hand and escorted him to the living room.

“Gosh, I feel so useless like this, I can’t do anything!”

“Well, that’s exactly why I’m here” she said while he noticed the suitcase in the living room.

“Hey, what’s that?”

“That’s what I’m talking about… I’m moving in!” she announced.

“Moving in?!” he was surprised.

“Well yes… you need someone to help you here, and besides… I can’t spend another minute in my father’s mansion. I feel so imprisoned there!”

“So you are talking about something permanent?”

“Yes, why not?” she asked. Kyle didn’t felt comfortable with that. He sat down on the sofa. “Kyle, is there a problem? You do want me to move in with you, don’t you?” Krystina asked.

“Krystina, you know I love you, and it could be great if we live together here…” he began.

“But?” she asked, but the telephone ringing disturbed them.

“Wait” he said and picked up the phone. “Hello?”

“Well, at least you not dead yet” Caress’s voice was heard from the other side of the line.

“What do you want?” He wasn’t happy to hear from her. Not at all.

“Just to ask how you are” she replied.

“I’m not interested, thank you” he hung up the phone and turned back to Krystina. “Those sales men…” he lied.

“So? You were about to say something…” she reminded him. He totally forgot about that for a minute. Caress’s call made him think. At least you not dead yet… he could heard her voice again. Just to ask how you are… it was enough information for him to begin to wonder. Maybe it wasn’t some of Blake Carrington’s goons; maybe it was Caress and her partner from the consortium.

“Kyle?” Krystina called.

“Oh, I’m sorry… I was just thinking”

“About us?”

“Krys, I just don’t want us to rush into anything” he tried to be careful with what he was saying.

“Rush into anything? Kyle, I made love with you!”

“Right, and it was great, and you know that I love you. It’s just that I don’t want to cause you more troubles, that all”

“Troubles?”

“Your father…”

“Oh, don’t worry about my father”

“Don’t worry? Krys, the man hates my guts!” He placed a hand on his head, trying to rub away the headache that was already forming. “God, it just. I don’t want to even think about what your father might do to me when he finds out you are living here.

“I am a grown person, Kyle. My father can’t tell me what to do or how to live my life”

“Oh, come on. You have to be realistic about this, Krys. You are not even eighteen yet.”

“So what!”

“So what? Krystina. It won’t work. I’m sorry. I wish we had another solution but we don’t, at least not now”

“I can’t go back to the mansion, Kyle. I won’t!”

“Well, I don’t see you have a choice in this matter”

“You know something? I might. That’s it, I have the perfect solution!”

Acapulco – Zach’s yacht

Alexis and Zach had spent together on his yacht in Acapulco.

It was near midnight as Alexis stood at the railing, looking out at the sea. Zach had just said goodbye to the last of their guest as he joined Alexis. But she appeared to be a million miles away.

Zach had hoped being together on his yacht in Acapulco –  the place of their romance twenty years ago – would help to make Alexis more open for his affection and put her in the mood for romance. It seemed to work. They had been eager to please each other and Zachary Powers had fulfilled his every ambition. Zach smiled to himself, glad that he had taken her mind off of ex-husband Dex Dexter.

“I’m very happy that you decided to join me. It’s just like the old times, isn’t it?” He remarked while placing his arms around her waist, trying to get her undivided attention.

“I always loved Acapulco. I’ve spent some very exciting years here.” She said, lost in thoughts.

“I’ve never understood why you left and returned to Denver anyway?”

“It was my destination. Blake once sent me away from Denver and banished me from my children. I had to go back and fight for what was supposed mine.” She replied. “And…” Alexis turned around to look in his face. “And I wanted to forget what happened that night in Caracas. I thought going away might help.” She sighed and looked down. “Being back here brought all the terrible memories back. I’m trying very hard not to think about that night, but I just can’t push those thoughts out of my mind.”

Zach was not interested in rehashing this kind of memories. “Oh Alexis, it’s so long ago. There is no point of thinking about that old story again. What’s done is done, we can’t change it anymore.”

“I know you’re right.” Alexis agreed, trying to shake off her thoughts.

“It’s late, are you coming to bed?” Zach asked. Alexis nodded.

Jim's Apartment – The Next Morning

Jim picked up his glass of red wine and looked at a picture of Ashley, her mother and him on his wall. They were so happy together till he screwed it up. He glanced at Steven lying in his bed fast asleep. Jim was thrilled when Steven came at first but as they began to make love he remembered his past was once again catching up with him. He was screwing his life again.

The phone rang cutting his thoughts. Jim put his drink down and answered it.

"Hello handsome. How are you?"

"Hello Lindsay. What do you want?" He noticed Steven was beginning to wake up.

"No, how are you? Glad to hear you?"

Jim smirked hearing her laughter on the other side.

"No, what do you want?" Jim asked again.

"Are you going to do what you promised?" The voice asked.

"Yes, soon…" He murmured.

"Good, I knew I can count on you. So when will I see you again, lover?" She asked slyly.

"Lindsay, don't. You already asked enough, I'm not going to lose her too." Jim said angrily, watching Steven eyes open.

"We’ll see…I'll be in touch!" The phone went dead.

"Damn you Lindsay." Jim slammed the phone down as Steven turned to look at him.

"Jim? Is everything alright?" He asked sitting up.

Jim looked at Steven's beautiful face. He was angry at Lindsay's request to hurt him. Steven was kind gentle and honest. He was falling in love with him. He doubted Steven would hurt someone intensely; Lindsay's parents were probably not as perfect as she made them out to be. Her grasp on reality was always weak and he was paying the price this time.

"Oh my god, look at the time! I have to go Jim!" Steven grabbed his clothes and began to dress.

"Are you sure, can't you stay?"

"Sorry! So what's wrong?" Steven was annoyed. He came ready to finally spend some quality time with Jim. He made his choice but Jim seemed distracted through their lovemaking. Then the phone call…Who the hell was Lindsay?

"This!" Jim began; he sat next to Steven holding his hand who had a puzzled look on his face. He hated doing this; eventually he'd have too made a choice but now was too soon.

"Steven, you're a great guy and I care about you a lot but…" Jim began again.

"You can't do this anymore…I know a break up line when I hear it. So this was one last time." Steven took his hand away from Jim.

"Steven, I'm sorry. The week you and Sammy Jo spend in NY made me realize she's the one I want to be with. I'm sorry…"  Jim put his head down.

"I doubt that…" Steven got up. Funny, that week made me realize Sammy Jo isn't the one for me, Steven thought.

"Steven, please" Jim grabbed his hand.

"Let go of me, Jim" Steven picked up his tie and jacket.

"Steven wait, can't we stay friends…" Jim pleaded as Steven opened the bedroom door.

"You must be kidding, right?!" Steven slammed the door.

Jim followed him as Steven headed for the apartment door.

"Steven, please…can’t we at least talk about that as grown people?" Jim cried.

"Forget it Jim, Stay out of my life." Steven opened the door.

"Steven," Jim cried desperately.

Steven turned and looked at him, "One more thing: you hurt Sammy Jo in any way, you'll have to answer to me. And I won’t be a nice as I was an hour ago!" The door slammed.

"Damn you Lindsay, damn you!"  Jim yelled.

Lindsay’s suite hotel

“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Lindsay rushed to open the door. “What the hell are you doing here?!” she asked Caress who didn’t waited for an invitation and stormed in.

“What the hell ARE YOU doing? I thought we agreed not to use violence!” she was mad.

Lindsay closed the door and joined her. “What violence? What are you talking about?” Lindsay asked naively.

“Don’t play dumb with me, Lindsay. You promised me you are not going to send Woo’s thugs to handle things anymore and a minute later they attack Kyle Roberts! They could have killed him, you know!”

“Kyle Roberts?” Lindsay asked, wondered.

“Stop the act, Lindsay! Can’t you see what you are doing? You are taking us back to what Woo did! You are jeopardizing everything that I have built, and by that I mean our plans. Stop looking so innocent, I don’t want the police snooping around, and finding out that the consortium is alive and well.

“No, it won’t” Lindsay said calmly and lighted a cigarette.

“Oh really? And what make you so sure about that?”

“Very simple, Caress. The consortium does not exist anymore” Lindsay told her with a smile on her face.

“Not exist?” Caress was confused. “What are you talking about?”

“There is no such thing anymore, Caress. Not by name, not by organization, not by documents. Nothing” she smiled. Caress looked at her, still confused.

“Wait a minute. You want to tell me the consortium is vanished? Totally?” she was still amazed.

“That’s what I say, yes”

“But… what… how? How did you do that?”

“It’s not important now Caress. The only thing that important now is that you’ll get rid of any document you having with this name. Get rid of that – and we have nothing to worry about”

“You never stop amazing me, Lindsay” Caress said and Lindsay smiled. “Well… what’s next? You are still seeing Krystle?”

“As a matter of fact - yes I am” Lindsay replied.

“And you still don’t want to tell me what you are going to do”

“Let’s just say I have a plan”

“I know you have a plan. The question is which one. You have to be very careful here. Krystle is not stupid you know”

“Don’t worry, Caress. I know what I’m doing”

“I hope so. Woo left you a big mess to solve”

“And it will be solve, I have the perfect solution for that” Lindsay smiled.

The Carrington Mansion – LB’s room

LB opened his eyes and found Ashley lying next to him, still sleeping. A big smile showed on his face. The girl he loved was finally together with him, in his bed. He still couldn’t believe how things developed so fast. Only a few hours ago he was alone, depressed, wondering where she was and what she was doing – and now they were sleeping in the same bed after a night of love and passion.

He waited for that for so long. All the arguments, the heartbreaking and the depression – it all was worth that, and the feelings that he was having now were wonderful. For a second he was afraid Ashley will open her eyes and tell him it was a mistake and she is going back to Israel, or to Danny. But he knew it would never happen after what they shared last night. She flew all the way back from Tel Aviv to Denver – only to be with him, and it felt so great.

“Hey Beautiful” he smiled to her when she opened softly her eyes.

“Hey…” she smiled back they kissed.

“Sleep well?” he asked.

“The best” she said and caressed his hair. “It was wonderful, LB”

“You where wonderful” he replied and kissed her again. “I love you Ashley, I love you so much”

“I love you too; I was so stupid trying to ignore my feelings for you”

“No, you were trying to protect Danny… I understand that. I know that you care about him – and the last thing we want is to hurt him”

“But it will happen, LB. what are we going to do? What am I going to tell him when he’ll ask me why I came back to Denver instead of going to Princeton?” she asked, but before LB could answer there was a knock on the door.

“LB? Are you there?” Lauren asked behind the door. “LB? I heard you talking, I know you awake” she insisted. LB looked at Ashley, helpless.

“I’ll hide in the bath” Ashley eventually said, covered her naked body with the white sheet, stood by and entered the bath.

“LB?” Lauren called again.

“Yes, I’m coming, I’m coming” he said while covered himself with his gown. He hided Ashley’s clothes under the bad and opened the door to his sister.

“What took you so long?”

“I just woke up, sis. What is it?” he stood at the doorway, stopping her from entering the room.

“Who you was talking to?” she asked and entered the room despite his trying to stop her from coming inside.

“A friend of mine called. What do you want, Lauren?” he was impatient.

“What this smell?” she wasn’t stupid. Ashley’s perfume’s smell was all over the room.

“Nothing, Lauren. Could you please go now? I want to get dressed”

“Wow! You are so tense, I could think you were hiding someone in the bathroom!” she teased him, but LB didn’t find it funny.

“Go, Lauren. Out!” he became angry.

“Okay, okay. I’m leaving, what a mood!” she replied and went out. LB closed the door after her and locked it. Ashley came out from the bathroom.

“That was close” she said.

“Sorry. Lauren can be a real nuisance sometimes.” he said and Ashley sat down on the bad.

“And it’s only the beginning, LB. we have to be very cautious here. If somebody from your family will find out about us…”

“I know” he said. “We have to find a solution, right away” he added, and they both wondered what could be the perfect solution to the new situation they was getting into.

Delta Rho

Sammy Jo was about to leave the ranch when she felt dizzy and almost collapsed on the sofa at the living room. The passed few days was too tens for her: Danny left to Princeton, Steven and she decided to break up – this time for good – and she was still unsure about her relationship with Jim. She looked around her. The house was so empty and cold. She felt lonely and depressed – but quickly took herself by hands and forced herself to go out. She was supposed to meet Fallon in La Mirage later today. The two of them worked in the past few years together and when Sammy Jo heard Fallon is working in La Mirage again, she thought it could be great to work with her ex sister in-law again. She was needed to a change in her life.

She took her car keys, ready to leave, when she heard a car parking outside. She looked through the window. Krystina went out from her car, holding suitcase in her arm. Sammy Jo wondered what is going on. She opened the door and greeted Krystina.

“Hey Sammy Jo, I hope I’m not interrupting, I just had to come”

“Well, I am in my way out… but I have the feeling you are in trouble again, aren’t you?” Sammy Jo said and looked at the suitcase.

“You spoke with mother, don’t you?” Krystina guessed.

“She did call me earlier this morning. She is very worried about you, Krystina”

“Well, they should have think about that before they treated Kyle like that”

“Oh, come on, Krys. You don’t really think your father sent those people to hurt him”

“Why not? He hates the guy!”

“It’s not Blake’s still. Besides, Blake could locked your in the mansion you know and stop you from seeing Kyle”

“I don’t think so…  I’m not a little girl anymore, Sammy Jo. And they don’t want to understand that!”

“Escape it’s not the answer you know” Sammy Jo said.

“I just can’t live there anymore, Sammy Jo. They make me crazy!”

“So you went to live with Kyle?”

“This is another problem. He doesn’t want me to live with him” Krystina said sadly.

“Really?” Sammy Jo was surprised.

“He doesn’t want to cause more troubles between my parents and me. See how wonderful he is? He’s so considered!”

“You thought maybe he have other reasons?”

“Oh, don’t start you too now. I came here to ask your help, not to hear another lecture!” Krystina got offended.

“Krys… you should go back home. Krystle and Blake love you very much”

“No. I can’t go back there. That’s what I wanted to talk with you about”

“Oh?” Sammy Jo asked, though she already guessed what her youngest cousin had in mind.

“I wondered if you’ll agree to let me stay here for awhile: since Danny and Steven are away now, and you are living alone here, I thought you won’t mind for a company” Krystina was sure her cousin won’t disappoint her.

“Well…” Sammy Jo hesitated. Her life was so a mess now. But Danny and Steven were both away, and the house was so empty and cold. From other hand, she still didn’t know where her relationship with Jim is standing. “I have to talk with your mother first, but – “she began and Krystina smiled.

“I knew you won’t let me down, Sammy Jo, thank you, thank you so much!” the girl hugged her surprised cousin.

ColbyCo, Caress’s office

The elevator doors opened and Caress stepped forth. She was in a bad mood because of her unpleasant meeting with Lindsay. “No calls, Sarah! I don’t want to be bothered today.” She instructed her secretary as she made her way into her office.

She threw her purse onto the sofa in the lounge area and crossed the room to the desk, finding a stack of papers and today’s correspondence on it. She picked up some of letters and sat down, turning her chair to the window.

Only seconds later she heard a knock on the door and Steven walked in. “It’s about time you got here.” He started without offering any greeting. “The two of us had an appointment. Where have you been all morning?” He asked her angrily.

“Nice to see you too, Steven.” She said sarcastically, wishing him to tell. “I just had a few things to take care of.” She excused her absence.

“I don’t have time for your incompetence and your unreliability, Caress.” He hissed. Steven was in stress. Because of Alexis’s trip to Mexico he had to handle just about everything.

Caress dismissed his reproach with rolling her eyes, while she continued looking through the mail.

Steven calmed down. “Tomorrow at Three pm, we’ll meet with the board to present the newest figures and to discuss our newest projects. I want everything set before that meeting.”

“Sure,” she said without any interest in her voice.

He placed another file on her desk. “Did you make yourself familiar with the Wyoming deal?” He asked her purely rhetorically.

She passed a vague look over it. “Why don’t you talk to Alexis about it?” She replied annoyed.

“You’re the CEO.” He reminded her. “Besides, Alexis is with Zach Powers in Acapulco.”

Caress looked up at him. Acapulco…? Her mind started to wander back in time.

Acapulco, 1978

It had been only weeks ago that Caress had met Zach Powers in California. It had been love at first sight. Every relationship she had been in so far had been a mistake. But this time everything was different – Zachary Powers was definitely Mr. Right.

Caress and Zach circulated among guests on his yacht, while she scanned the crowd for their special guests of that night.

“They’re here.” Caress exclaimed as she spotted them. She took Zach’s hand and tugged him to their newly arrived guests.

“Hello Alexis!”

“Caress, darling!” The sisters greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek.

“Alexis, I want you to meet the most wonderful man I ever met.” Caress said proudly, squeezing Zach’s hand and smiling happily at him. “Darling, this is my sister Alexis Carrington.”

“Mr. Powers, so nice to finally have the pleasure.” Alexis said sweetly.

“The pleasure is all mine.” He replied, taking her right hand and raising it to his lips, gently kissing her wrist. “One sister is as beautiful as the other.” He complimented, looking up into her eyes.

Alexis and Zach instantly attracted to one another. Caress noticed the two of them exchanging flirtatious glances. For a moment she considered twice if it had been a wise decision to introduce her sister and Zach Powers to each other. Caress looked at Alexis’s escort who seemed equally worried.

That night Caress had met Ricardo Chavez for the first time. He was Alexis’s lover for six months. Ricardo was Venezuelan with an aristocratic background and political ambitions. He was tall, dark, educated, and very handsome. But he was also married and father of four.

Here it all had started and shortly after this evening ended in the death of Ricardo Chavez…

Back to the present…

Caress memory was disturbed by Steven’s voice. “Caress, can we now finally complete the necessary paperwork. I need your signature on these contracts.”

Caress signed the papers before her without even going over them.

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon.” Steven said, taking the files and leaving the office in a hurry.

As soon as Steven was gone, Caress once again turned into memory…

Back in time…   Acapulco, 1978

Alexis and Caress had spent all afternoon together on Zach’s yacht, sunbathing, while Zach Powers had been busy with a deal with another shipping magnate, concerning a million dollar deal.

Zach stood among a group of bankers and businessmen, talking, but his attention kept wandering to the sun deck. Behind her sunglasses Caress noticed Zach looking at Alexis very closely, examining every bit of her body.

Aware of the fact that Zach was watching her; Alexis opened a bottle of tanning lotion and began to evenly spread the fluid over her shoulders and her cleavage. Caress glanced at Zach, whose eyes rested on Alexis again, watching every move of hers. Alexis removed her sunglasses and returned his look, flashing him a bright smile. Zach took a sip of his drink and smiled back.

Hidden behind her sunglasses Caress rolled her eyes in annoyance. She had watched her sister for the last days, and in Caress’s opinion is was obvious what Alexis was up to, because she had seen her acting this way many times before. Caress knew all her tricks, and she could tell by the way Alexis flirtatiously looked or laughed at Zach, she seductively batted her eyes at him, or she suggestively put the crystal flute to her lips when she drunk, and the seductive tone in her voice when she talked to him that she wanted him.

Caress was not even surprised. Knowing her sister’s taste in men she had expected something like that from her. What really bothered her was that Zach obviously enjoyed it.

Enough was enough; Caress couldn’t stand it any longer. She needed to know how far things had already progressed between Zach and her sister and she had to put a stop to it. She took her sunglasses off and threw a warning look at her. “Forget it, Alexis!”

“What are you talking about?” Alexis innocently asked.

“Stay away from Zach!” Caress warned her.

Alexis turned swiftly to respond. “Don’t be ridiculous, I don’t have the slightest interest in Zachary Powers.”

Caress laughed angrily. “I’m no fool, Alexis. I see how you throw yourself at him. But you won’t succeed because Zach loves me deeply.”

“You’re imagine things, darling.” Alexis replied, pretending to be wrongfully accused. “Anyway, if he loves you as much as you say what are you worried about?”

“I’m not worried…” Caress lied, trying to sound calmly and confidently. But Caress was alarmed and knowing Alexis so well she knew she had every reason to be, because no man had ever been able to resist her sister...

Back to the present: The streets of Rome, Italy

Jeff and Amanda were sitting in a small café in one of the posh shopping districts in Rome. Jeff looked at the six shopping bags that Amanda had spread out in the chairs next to him and smiled.

He had never known anyone who loved to shop as much as Amanda.

“Well, I have plenty of jewelry, and cloths, now all I need is shoes.” Amanda said matter of fact as she sipped her tea.

Jeff laughed. “Yes, I bet you need five pairs.”

Amanda frowned. “I guess it was a bit much.” She smiled. “Jeff, you have been a dear to put up with me today.”

“I’m really enjoying myself.”

“Jeff Colby, you have never lied to me before, don’t start now.” Amanda said with her hands on her hips, all smiled.

“Hey, I’m actually having fun you know” Jeff picked up his coffee. “It’s been a long time since I could relax, and I’m relaxing now.” He took a sip. “You make me feel totally at ease Amanda.”

“Thank you Jeff.” She frowned.

“What? What’s wrong?” Jeff asked.

“It’s just I feel so bad to be out here having fun, while Dex is hurting so much.”

Jeff smiled. “You compassion for others is so wonderful.” He thought to himself that Fallon used to be that way.

“I just don’t understand how Mr. Richards could have made such a terrible mistake.”

“He didn’t.” Jeff said.

“What do you mean?”

“He was paid to take Dex there.” Jeff stated.

“What” Amanda asked shocked?

“I just have this feeling that something is wrong with this Mr. Richards, and I’ve been doing some digging around on my own, and do you know what I came up with.”

“What?”

“That someone took Mr. Richards on retainer after Dex did.” Jeff said.

“Monica.”

“Yes, apparently Monica had paid Peter Richards to lead Dex on a wild goose chase. I just don’t understand how she could be so cruel.”

“I guess she just wants to protect her mother.”

Jeff smiled again. “She that’s what I mean, Monica has done something nasty, and there you are full of compassion. It’s a nice trait. Something a man could get used to.”

For an instant they both gazed into each others eyes, and felt that spark of a connection, but quickly Amanda interrupted it. “Well about those shoes.”

Jeff stood up shaking the feeling away. “Oh boy, nothing I like more than shoe shopping.”

Amanda and Jeff laughed as they loaded up and went about there day.

La Mirage – The restaurant

“So she’s with you now?” Krystle asked Sammy Jo who called to her cellular phone. She was already sitting to a table, waiting for Lindsay to come.  “I don’t know about that, Sammy Jo. She should come back home” Krystle got relief her daughter wasn’t staying with Kyle and she knew she will be just fine at Delta Rho, but she loved Krystina so much and couldn’t think her daughter won’t stay with her in the mansion. “Are you sure, Sammy Jo?” she asked one more time. Her niece promised her Krystina will all right at the ranch and Krystle knew its better that Krystina will stay with Sammy Jo then with Kyle. “All right, I just hope Blake won’t be difficult on this matter… okay, we’ll be in touch. Thank you, Sammy Jo. Bye” she said and hung up when Lindsay joined her.

“Krystle, I’m sorry for late. I had unexpected visit” Lindsay said, referring to Caress’s visit at the Hilton.

“It’s all right. How are you?”

“Great. I came with a brand new idea that could help you and Blake with the consortium” it was all planned. She knew exactly what she is doing.

“Oh?”

“The clinic you were hospitalized in Switzerland. They must have something that can lead us to the consortium!” she said, enthusiastic.

“No, that won’t help, nothing will help us now” Krystle said sadly and it gave Lindsay more will to find out if the Carrington’s heard by now something about the “dead” consortium.

“Why? What happened?” Lindsay played naive.

“The consortium does not exist anymore, Georgia. The police chief stopped by the mansion last night. They decided to close the case”

“Really?!” Lindsay tried not to seem too happy. “Why?!” she changed her tone.

“I’m not sure. He said they came to an dead-end and since Van Dorn and Woo are already dead – and nobody tried to hurt Blake or the family since then, there is no use to continue and look for something that does not exist anymore” Krystle said unhappy.

“Oh, no”

“Yes… Blake was so furious last night. It’s like they saying all what we had been through in the passed ten years was for nothing. All the miserable, the lost, the pain… we don’t have nobody to blame now. It’s like we fought with a ghost”

“It’s horrible” Lindsay said but inside, was happy. Everything is going exactly by her plan. Now, that the police are not hunting the consortium anymore, it will be easier to her to accomplish her goal.

“Yes, I know. I guess its effect your plan as well now” Krystle said and Lindsay was confused for a moment.

“My plan?” she wondered.

“Well yes. Your book” Krystle said.

“Oh, right, the book…”

“Maybe you should look for another group to write on. You won’t have many sources, now that the case is closed”

“Oh, no. I don’t have any intention to stop this investigation, Krystle. And I hope you don’t as well”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, now things becoming much more fascinate to me. To hear that the consortium does not existing anymore. It is really strange, and I am going to find out how it all happened”

“Why?” Krystle didn’t understand. This woman is not a part of the family, actually she hardly knows Krystle and Blake, but still, she wants to help them.

“Krystle, like I told you when we first met, I’m a reporter, a writer. I want to find out what cause this people to hunt your family… and I won’t stop until I’ll find out the truth. All the truth!” she said sharply. Krystle looked at her smiling, but couldn’t not wonder who this woman really is, and why she is doing all that…

Denver Carrington, Blake’s office

“I’m not interested in what the police have to say! – I want you to find out who is the bastard that responsible for the consortium – and don’t tell me there is no organization like that, do you understand?!” Blake almost yelled into the phone. The police maybe closed the case against the consortium, but Blake didn’t have any intention to stop searching for the people who ruined his family’s life. “I’m glad we have agreement on that” he added. The private detective was about to get lots of money for this mission and Blake was about to make sure he won’t spend his money for nothing. “And don’t call me until you have anything new to tell me” he finally said and hung up the phone.

“Mr. Carrington? There’s Mr. Roberts to see you” the secretary’s voice was heard from the receiver.

“And what the hell he wants?” Blake wondered. “Okay, let him in” he said and one second later the door opened and Kyle entered the office. His hand was still bandaged and his head was still covered with bruises. Blake couldn’t ignore that.

“Hello Mr. Carrington, I hope I’m not disturb you”

“What do you want?”

“I know Krystina believe you did this to me – but I know you didn’t”

“Oh, really? And why’s that?”

“There is somebody else I suspect sent those guys to me, somebody from the consortium”

“So you are still working with them!”

“No, I’m not, but I willing to help you finding the truth if you’ll be a little more understanding with me and Krystina”

“Don’t you talk with me about Krystina? You are the reason she left the house!” Blake stormed out.

“Mr. Carrington, I can help you if you’ll help me”

“You must be kidding! – you have lots of nerve, you know that?”

“I love your daughter!”

“Love? You don’t know the meaning of the word! You are just using her to get back at her family!”

“I don’t have anything against your family, why can’t you understand I am in your side here? I want to help you catching those people”

“You must think I’m stupid, buying this story. Hmm? well I’m not!, and I’ll appreciate if you’ll leave now”

“I came here to offer you my help, Mr. Carrington”

“I don’t need your help; I need you to stay away from my daughter. You got that!”

“Sir…”

“Get out now, before I’ll lose my temper, out!” Blake almost hit him.

“I should have listened to Krystina. You are stubborn old man!” Kyle shouted back and left the office stormily.

“Damn this guy, damn him!” Blake whispered to him self and sat down on his chair, still angry…

La mirage

"Now it's perfect!" Sammy Jo stated as she put the color palmate on Fallon's desk.

"Yes it is!" Fallon smiled looking down at the layout for her renovations of she hotel. She was glad Sammy Jo came.

"This is so much fun; your interior decorator is fabulous!" Sammy Jo looked down at what they've accomplished.

"Isn't she? Krystle recommended her!" Fallon agreed.

"Maybe I'll redecorate the ranch!" Sammy Jo thought out load.

"What do you have in mind?" Fallon asked.

"More closet space!" Sammy Jo answered causing Fallon to laugh.

"Well if you need any help…" Fallon suggested.

"Thanks, now that Danny and Steven are gone, I can make some changes."  Sammy Jo smiled wearily.

"You miss them, don't you?" Fallon asked sensing her friend distress.

"Yes, I still can't believe Danny is off to college."

"They grow up so fast!" Fallon picked up a picture from her desk of the kids; it was taken years ago at Krystina's tenth birthday.

Sammy Jo nodded in agreement.

"It seems like yesterday, they were playing hide and go seek around the mansion" Fallon reminisced.

"Or horse back riding at the ranch… " Sammy Jo added.

"Soon they'll be joining their father's and running oil companies." Fallon smiled wearily.

"Well let's hope they'll do it because they want not because they feel obligated." Sammy Jo signed.

"Oh Jeff loves every minute of it!" Fallon complained.

"I wish I could say the same about Steven, now that Danny is gone, I hope he'll be more selfish." Sammy Jo stated.

"Not as long as mother has her claws in him…" Fallon signed. She smiled at Sammy Jo; it was so nice to have some one to complain to.

"I know, I tried convincing him to do something when we were in New York.  I hope I got through to him!"

"So what happened between you two in New York?"

"Closure; maybe finally a chance to be just good friends."

"I sorry, I know you wanted more…"

"Wishful thinking. Sometimes if you love someone enough you have to let him go. "   Sammy Jo closed the subject.

"Is that advice?" Fallon asked looking down at a picture of her and Jeff.

"Oh Fallon I didn't know things were that bad between you two!" Sammy Jo knew they were having problem but they always worked them out at least in this marriage.

"I'm losing him. Things have been bad for a while and now he has gone off with that sister of mine" Fallon put her head down.

Sammy Jo hugged her. "Hey… Jeff loves you, he always has, always will. Anyway if anything happens it is a rebound relationship. Amanda's not over Max, yet. It'll never work. Jeff will come back to you!"

"Think so?" Fallon asked.

"I've been there, remember? You and Jeff were having problems and I was getting over Steven again…" Sammy Jo watch Fallon's frown turn into a weak smile.

"It's amazing how history repeats itself." Fallon smiled as Sammy Jo laughed.

"So… I hope you are going to fight for your man?"

"I don't know!" Fallon signed.

"Don’t know? Fallon, fight for him reminds him whom he fell in love with! Spend some quality time with him! You know what to do. Like Amanda, let him play the hero and rescuer. Men love that." Sammy Jo suggested.

"You're right!" Sammy Jo's advice was much better than Steven's was. Maybe I'll ask for his help with the hotel. Fallon thought. "Thanks!"

"Sure! Whew!" Sammy Jo lost her balance for a sec. She sat down.

"Hey… are you alright?"   Fallon looked worried as she handed Sammy Jo her water glass.

"Thanks, I'm okay now.  I'm just so tired these days." Sammy Jo answered.

"What's wrong?" Fallon was concerned for her friend.

"I have my suspicions."   Sammy Jo recognized the symptoms, but it been so long.

Fallon looked at her puzzled. "Don't ask!" Sammy Jo signed.

The Mansion – Adam’s room

Adam tossed and turned in his bed, he was having a nightmare, reliving the moments that occurred when he entered the night club where Mrs. Litton was holding Dana hostage. “No” he screamed when the bullets ripped into Mrs. Litton’s body.

But the thing that tormented him most was seeing Dana fly backwards as the bullets flew about the room, and then all went blank. “NO, DANA……..”

“Mr. Carrington, are you all right?” Janette asked when she entered the room.

Adam noticed the way she was looking at him, like he was crazy. “Yes, Yes I’m all right. It was just a bad dream that’s all.”

“Well if you need anything.” She said as she began to shut the door.

“Yes, I call.” Adam threw off the covers, and went into his private bathroom. He switched on the light and went over to the sink. “She thinks I’m crazy, they all do.” He mumbled to himself, as he turned on the water, and began to splash it onto his face. “Well let them think what they want. Adam, you are not crazy. Dana was there. She had to be….” He looked at his face in the mirror. He had large black bags under his eyes. “She was, wasn’t she????”

Denver Memorial Hospital- Dr Rushford’s office

After reading the paper she found in Adam’s room, and her meeting earlier with Lindsay, Krystle found herself sitting in Dr. Herbert Rushford’s office.

“I know that you have a patient doctor confidentiality, but I’m Adam’s step mother, and if there is any question about his mental stability -  the family and I have a right to know.” Krystle demanded. She looked at the paper stamped form the Harmon Springs P.D, a psychic evaluation conducted shortly after Adam was found.

“I’m sorry, but I can only inform you at Mr. Carrington’s consent.” The doctor evaded.

“Listen doctor. Adam has a young son; do you want to be responsible if Adam brings harm to him?”

The doctor shook his head, and reluctantly opened Adam’s file. “All right, When Adam was brought in; the Harmon Springs Chief ordered a physic evaluation.”

“The Chief ordered?! with what right?!”

“He thought it might help the police with the investigation about the consortium”

“So you were the one who conducted the evaluation.”

“Yes.”

“And what did you find?”

“This is of course stays between you and me. I am not allowed to give you this information, only to Adam’s wife or parents”

“Believe me, I’m more Adam’s mother then Mrs. Colby” Krystle said and the doctor began talking.

“I’m afraid Adam is mentally unstable, He is living with in a multi delusional world, where everyone is out to get him. Now, we can’t be sure yet with anything, but it seems like he is suffering form a mild form of schizophrenia.” He said to the stunned Krystle

The bar inside the Stratford Hotel, Rome, Italy

Amanda, and Jeff were sitting next to an impatient Dex in the bar and lounge of the hotel.

They had just eaten dinner and were awaiting Peter.

After their day of shopping, Jeff and Amanda had told Dex of their suspicions of what Monica had done, and now they were sitting here waiting for him to come.

Jeff looked up, and spotted Peter enters the room. “There he is.” When Peter spotted them he came over and sat down.

“Mr. Dexter, I’m so sorry about what happened, I don’t know how I could have made such a mistake.”

“Save it, Richards.” Dex said as the anger formed around him. Amanda looked to Jeff, and he could see it too. “I know you lead me there for a reason.”

“So you could find Mrs. Colby, just what I was paid for.”

“Don’t play with me, Richards. I know you were paid to take me to that room.” Dex stood up. “You were paid to take me to see that woman sleeping in that bed and you were paid to force me to believe any further search for Sable would be futile.”

“Mr. Dexter, I don’t know what you are talking about, you paid me to find Mrs. Colby.” But before he could finish what he was saying Dex punched him square in the jaw, and began beating him, when Jeff and Amanda pulled him off of Peter.

“You listen to me, you creep! You are going to tell me where is Monica and Sable right now! You hear me?!” he beaten him.

“Dex stops it.” Jeff jumped to pull Dex away from the private detective.

“Dex it’s no use.” Amanda said.

“My lawyer thanked you for that Mr. Dexter.” Peter said as he got up off the floor, but before Dex could lunge at him Jeff grabbed him.

“Listen here you swine of a man, we know you were paid to lure Dex to Rome, so if you don’t want me to finish the job Dex started you had better admit it and tell us where my sister is!”

Peter could tell by the look in Jeff eyes that he meant business. “All right, all right!” he said while fixing his suit. ”I was paid to take Mr. Dexter to that room.”

“Why?” Amanda said.

“Mrs. Colby wanted to make sure he would give up his search.” Peter said as Jeff let go of him.

“When I find Monica Colby I’m going to kill her.” Dex said, but Peter looked confused.

“I’m afraid you’ve go it all wrong Monica didn’t pay me to do this.”

“What?” they said in unison.

“It wasn’t Monica Colby; she left Rome some time ago. The woman who paid me to do this was Sable Colby.”

Dex lunged at him again. “You son of a bitch, she couldn’t, she was in a coma…..”

“I’m telling you the truth, I was hired by Sable Colby, and she’s been awake recovering for sometime now.” Peter reached into his pocket. “In Fact she told me to give you this incase you found out the truth.” Peter gave Dex and envelope.

“Oh my god, this is Sable’s hand writing.” Dex was shocked and began reading the letter, tears swelling in his eyes, as Jeff and Amanda looked on saddened by what they saw.

Delta Rho

Sammy Jo marched into her bathroom and closed the door behind her. She picked up the pregnancy test and was about to look at the result.

"Sammy Jo, where are you?" She heard Jim's voice as he entered the bedroom.

"Here!' She answered back, she glanced at the result and picked up, another pregnancy test box and ripped it open.  She had to be sure!

"Hi, beautiful!' Jim head appeared as the bathroom door opened.

"Jim please, give me a second?" Sammy Jo turned around.

Jim saw her holding a tube.   "What are you up too?"

Sammy Jo put the tube down and headed towards Jim. She kissed him passionately and dragged him into the bedroom.

"Oh I missed you!" Jim said after catching his breath.

"You saw me, last night…"

"It's been too long…"

"I'm glad you're here." Sammy Jo laughed.

"Me too! We are going out to celebrate." Jim stated.

"Celebrate what?"

"I've made a decision! I want us to date exclusively! You are the only person I want to be with. The week you spend in New York away from me made me realize that. Spending time with Steven made me sure." Jim explained.

Sammy Jo looked at him, something was missing, and she couldn't put her finger on it.

"You told Steven?" Sammy Jo asked.

"Yes! Aren't you happy?" Jim was annoyed at the question.

"I am and I agree to your terms!"  She hugged him tightly.

"Terms?" Jim looks puzzled.

"Exclusive! Now give me a minute to get ready!" Sammy Jo stated.

"Alright, I'll be in the leaving room!" Jim walked out.

Sammy Jo picked up the phone and dialed.  "Maria, hi, Sammy Jo Reese.   Is there a chance that Dr. Kay can see me tomorrow?   Really? that's perfect. Thanks"

Jim put the phone down in the leaving room; he wanted to find Ashley. She left him a message she was back in Denver. Why would Sammy Jo want to see Dr. Kay? Jim knew she was one of the best gynecologists at the hospital. Oh my god, the tube she was holding! He said to himself as we
