the tease formed in the humid spring of 2002, drummerless and lacking a clue. to some it was thought cute, like the shaggs, or from the "outside" like REYNOLS. to others it was a nuisance. then, after the introduction of several potential players, all put off by the lack of promise shown in the initial weeks, the current and correct line up was reached. things changed...a machine was built...rickety and unsure, primitive, but it worked. andy is now our hero. however, a major compromise at this point damaged, perhaps permanently, team morale, splitting the family into distinct factions, which would cease to be distinct over the life of the band as allegiances shifted with ever-evolving causes for offense. hate would remain present, granting the fun a jagged edge. That compromise, for the curious: the name, originally SheTesticle was changed, to The Tease. Yes, it is obvious to you, the reader, as well: a shameful attempt to insinuate ourselves amongst the current herd of bands using "The" to indicate that they mine from the au courant pool of garage and no wave/new wave; "Tease" a shameless proclamation of identity via gender. Not surprisingly, the compromise payed off. Shows and enthusiasm, both feigned and sincere, followed. Having carved out a minor niche in the local market, it is now the goal of The Tease to reach the hearts of all fans of The Need, The Gossip, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Lies, etc. and be on turntables for the next six months until a new trend of weeping Lou Barlows or murky electronic melancholia undermines our current marketing angle, winning the hearts of jaded youth with a different recycled sound. However, before our footing on the bandwagon is sure, we must make a record.
