Banks' medal, which he was forced to sell off to support his family, was originally opened at just £42,000 at the auction at Christie's in Kensington, London this morning, and was expected to reach between £70,000 and £90,000, but bidding stopped at £124,750 with an anonymous telephone bidder claiming the medal. more..
