Earth Science Planet Comparison

You are to compare the following features of each planet in our solar system. (This includes Earth!)  You are to make a chart to include the following items; (40pts)

Diameter of planet

Orbit period (Earth time)

Rate of rotation (Earth time)

Number of moons

Range of surface temps

Composition of atmosphere (in symbol and atomic name)

Rings present or not

How many AU’S from the sun (see pages 593 and References in text)

*Make sure you explain how it was arrived at!

You will then make a chart using this information showing scale distance from the sun to each planet.  You may convert your scale any way you wish. (such as 1 AU = 1 INCH  or 1 AU = 2CM) (30pts)

You will also draw each planet to scale and color appropriately the surface. (Example would be that Earth is Blue and White) and once again, your determination of scale is your choice.  Just make sure it is accurate!  Make sure your scale is listed on both diagrams! (30pts)
