If Jesus Came To Your House
Author Unknown

If Jesus came to your home to spend a day or two --
If He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.
Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an honored Guest,
And all the food you'd serve Him would be the very best,
And you would keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there --
That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare.
But -- when you see Him coming would you meet Him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly Visitor?
Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in,
Or hide some magazines, and put the Bible where they'd been?
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard,
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?
Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
And I wonder -- if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing things you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conversation keep its usual pace,
And would you find it hard each meal to say table grace?
Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read,
And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you planned to go,
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends,
Or would you hope they stay away until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know the things that you would do,
If Jesus came in person to spend some time with you.

Footprints With a Twist

Imagine you and the Lord Jesus are walking down the road together. For much of the way, the Lord's footprints go along steadily, consistently, rarely varying the pace. But your footprints are a disorganized stream of zigzags, starts, stops, turnarounds, circles, departures and returns. For much of the way, it seems to go like this, but gradually your footprints come more in line with the Lord's soon paralleling His consistently. You and Jesus are walking as true friends! This seems perfect, but then an interesting thing happens: Your footprints that once etched the sand next to Jesus' are now walking precisely in His steps. Inside His larger footprints are your smaller ones; you and Jesus are becoming one. This goes on for many miles, but gradually you notice another change. The footprints inside the large footprints seem to grow larger. Eventually they disappear altogether. There is only one set of footprints; they have become one. This goes on for long time, but suddenly the second set of footprints is back. This time it seems even worse! Zigzags all over the place. Stops. Starts. Deep gashes in the sand. A veritable mess of prints. You are amazed and shocked. Your dream ends.

Now you pray: "Lord, I understand the first scene with zigzags. I was a new Christian; I was just learning. But you walked on through the storm and helped me learn to walk with you.,"

"That is correct."

"And then the smaller footprints were inside of Yours. I was actually learning to walk in Your steps; followed you very closely."

"Very good. You have understood everything so far."

"When the smaller footprints grew and filled in Yours. I suppose that I was becoming like you in every way."

"Precisely."

"So, Lord, was there a regression or something? The footprints separated, and this time it was worse than at first."

There is a pause as the Lord answers with a smile in his voice. "You didn't know? That was when we danced."

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to weep, a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4.

PRAYER
by Eliza M. Hickok

I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know, God answers prayer.
I know that He has given His word,
Which tells me prayer is always heard,
And will be answered, soon or late;
And so I pray, and calmly wait.

I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the way I thought,
But leave my prayers with Him alone.
Whose will is wiser than my own,
Assured that He will grant my quest,
Or send some answer far more blest.

ANOINTED TO BE DISAPPOINTED

Author Unknown

I refuse to stay discouraged,
To be sad or to cry.
I refuse to be down hearted
And here's the reason why:
I have a God who is Almighty;
Who is sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
And I am on His team.
He is all wise and power
Jesus is His Name;
Though everything else is changeable,
My God remains the same.
I refuse to be defeated.
My eyes are on my GOD.
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.
I am looking past my circumstances,
to Heaven's throne above.
My prayers have reached the heart of God.
I am resting in His love.
I give thanks to Him in everything.
My eyes are on His Face.
The battle is His; The victory is mine;
He will help win the race!

Morning Solitude
by Thomas C. Duck, San Antonio, Texas

My favorite time of every day
is in the morning when I pray.

Just me and God, all alone.
I bare my soul before His throne.

I bring Him my burdens, and all my concerns.
When I can't express it, His Spirit discerns.

He gives back a peace beyond understanding.
Like a parachute gives a soft gentle landing.

So when life is a free fall that's out of control,
Make solitude with Jesus your primary goal.

And when everything seems to be going okay,
Still get with God alone every day.

For life is a series of trial after trial,
And strength comes daily, alone with God for awhile.

Angels
by Lynn M. Diehm

Angels are watching over you
in your heart you'll see,
They are always there to help you
have faith in what will be.

They are ever with you
and lovingly will stay,
Embracing you with heavenly wings
protecting you each day.

Angels walk beside you
they understand and care,
They will inspire and uplift you
with a guiding love to share.

They bring a sense of peace
to everything you do,
Angels sit upon your shoulder
They're God's special gift to you.

God Knows
Written By SouthernHeart

I looked at the hillside where the color of the
leaves had changed, I knew this beautiful
creation God had arranged.

He blesses us in so many ways, From
snowflakes to make our world white to
warm summer days.

He'll send a friend to brighten your day,
You'll know this friend was sent from God's way.

Or someone may cross your path with a
warm smile, It might be just what you
needed to finish that last mile.

God knows our needs before we do, Even
when we don't realize it he's there helping us through.

God knows every tear we've ever cried,
He knows when we want to run away and hide.

Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair,
But we have one we can depend on,
one who's always there.

God knows when we're torn apart,Cast your
burdens on him and he'll mend your broken heart.

He wants to see a smile on your face,
As he blesses us with his grace.

Keep A Prayer In Your Heart

A day that starts without a prayer
Is like an empty shell,
And a day that ends without a prayer
Cannot be ended well;
For when your heart turns HEAVENWARD
You find a sweet release,
And you understand the meaning
of "His mercies never cease."
When life brings pain and sorrow
Which you feel too weak to bear,
There's strength in God's abiding love
And in the power of prayer.

So never start a day unless
There's a prayer within your heart,
Don't make a firm decision
Until you've prayed about it,
For prayer is like a golden gift --
And just can't do without it ...
And though at times you feel as if
Your prayer has not been heard,
Remember, God is listening
And He hears your every word.
He may not always give the things
You wished and hoped He would,
But in His love and wisdom
He does all things for your good.

Walking Like Jesus
by Robbin Milam Hall, 1981

Walking like Jesus - We're walking in love
Wise as a serpent - Gentle as a dove.
Walking like Jesus - Forgiving each other
Never holding grudges against any brother.

Walking like Jesus - We're filled with the
Spirit
And when we see evil - We do not go near
it.
Walking like Jesus - In might and in power
We'll not suffer satan one day or one hour.

Walking like Jesus - In unyielding faith
We press toward the mark - To go in the
Straight Gate.
Walking like Jesus - And always in prayer
He's taken our burdens - He really does care.

Walking like Jesus - We have divine health
Right standing with God and inherited
wealth.
Walking like Jesus - As sons of the King
We abide in His Shadow and under His
Wing.

Walking like Jesus - In obedience to God
Comforted always by His staff and His rod.
Walking like Jesus - We die to the flesh
Crucified with Him - And with him
resurrect.

Walking like Jesus - Giving praise to the
Lord
Wearing the armour and wielding the sword
Walking like Jesus is our main goal in life
And through Him we conquer tribulation
and strife.

Without the Lord Jesus - We are empty and
hollow.
We know the Lord's voice - And only Him
will we follow.
