For Dad

The older I get,

the more I realize

what an imprtant influeruce

you've been in my lift.

I see all the ways

you've been there for me~

the way you've guided my decisions

while encouraging me

to stand on my own,

the way you've offered

suggestions and opinions

while accepting me as I am,

the way you've supported

my endeavors

while allowing me the freedom

to experience the world for myself.

You never let me down, Dad,

and I want you to know

I appreciate it...

So, for all the times

I've left it unsaid, Dad,

I want to thank you now

for the understanding,

the caring, and the love

you've shown in so many

special ways.

It's easier to see each day

how wonderful you've been,

To know the value

of your love--

but words cannot begin

To thank you

for the things you've done

or show the true extent

Of what your help,

your patience,

and your thougntfulness

have meant...

But since you always

understand,

then cerainly

you'll know

This comes to you

with much more love

than words

could ever show.
