Base Ball Notes

The secretary of the Altoona base ball asso-
ciation received a telegram Wednesday after-
noon from Secretary William Warren White,
of Washington, D.C., that the Altoona base
ball association had been admitted to mem-
bership in the union association of base ball
clubs, which is made of club in each of the
following cities: Boston, Philadelphia, Bal-
timore, Washington, Cincinnati, Chicago, St.
Louis and Altoona, which places the Altoona
team in one of the highest classes of base ball
associations in the country.

George W. Nofsker, of Shippensburg, Pa.,
has been signed as one of the catchers for the
Altoona base ball club.  This is the tenth
man signed.  Two more are being negotiated
with and are expected this week, which will
complete the team.
The association is feeling jubilant over their
success in securing such men as are signed,
all bearing the reputation of being perfect
gentlemen as well as great ball players.

Base Ball Notes

The League and American association base
teams and all clubs signing their agreement
will not play any Union club, or any club that
plays a Union club during the season.
This is an attempt to break the Union asso-
ciation down.  Time will tell how it will
work.
The members of the Altoona base ball club
ordered uniform dress suits on Saturday at
Goetz's tailoring establishment.  The suits
will be made of granite cloth, seal brown, and
will cost $35 each.  When the players get in-
side their duds, and have brown hats to
match, which they have already ordered from
Westfall's, they will look like dudes.   The
field uniform has not been received yet.
