Pictures from Germany Smith's life

I modified this one a little bit, but the sunbeam shining down where Germany Smith would have been playing was just a chance occurance.
In Green Cathedrals, the author states that Columbia Park is now the site of gasoline storage tanks.  However, there are no gasoline storage tanks in Altoona anywhere in the city limits.  Columbia Park has been around since at least 1934, and as it bears the same name, I think it likely is on the same site.  The Columbia Park Townhouses sit near by; that would be the other possibility.

Altoona has a history of covering up baseball history; Cricketfield Plaza, which contains a Wendy's and Eckerd Drug Store, was built on the site of Cricket Field.  Babe Ruth hit a home run there in an exhibition game.
