A lot has been going on this Summer. The biggest thing is that we've purchased and moved into a new house. Now
all the decorating and settling in has begun.

Amanda and I went to San Francisco for a long weekend, Thursday May 1st to Monday May 5th.
We stayed at the King George Hotel just off Union Square on Mason Street.
We arrived on Thursday and headed on down to Fisherman's Wharf. We had a bite to eat then walked
up to Ghirardelli for dessert.
Friday, we took the ferry ride out to Alcatraz. It was very interesting to see. I just can't
imagine ever having been incarcerated there. When we got off the ferry back at the wharf, we
noticed a number of limo's parked at seal pier. They all had the Australian flag attached. It
turns out the Prime Minister of Australia was in town. He walked right past us, no more than 10
feet away! We then took the bus to Golden Gate Park to see the Academy of Science. Unfortunately
the Academy was closing within the hour so we made plans to come back to it.
Saturday we got up early, rented a car and headed North to Napa. We stopped in Sausalito for
breakfast at a little cafe next to the water. They were also having an arts fair so we took some
time to see the artists wares.
Top down, heat on, we blasted up the road and entered the wine country. We just love it here.
Our first stop was at the Coppola Vineyards. Much to our surprise, the director himself was there
with his friend, Val Kilmer! Oh, we also tasted wine.
Next on the list was the Beringer Winery. We went on a tour of the wine caves which of course
included the obligatory wine tasting.
We then tooled along looking for other interesting vineyards that we had not been to before. We
ended up at one, the Rombauer which is the folks who co-wrote the Joy Of Cooking. They had very
nice wine and we even talked them into giving Amanda a bottle for her birthday.
On down the road we continued and stopped at the Sinskey Vineyards. This wine was much dryer
compared to the others but we still ended up buying a couple of bottles.
Back down the road we went towards San Francisco, turned in the car and got ready for dinner. We
had a great dinner at Koeletos.
On Sunday we went back to the Academy of Science to see the exhibits. We also took in a show at the
planetarium. After lunch we walked up to the Legion of Honor with the intention of seeing the
Leonardo De Vinci exhibit. Unfortunately they were sold out of tickets. Instead we viewed the
general galleries which were all from the same period.
We made our way back to Union Square for dinner. Part of our room charge was the "Champagne Romance
Package" which of course included Champagne and to our surprise, chocolate truffles. It was a fine
dessert.
Monday we hooked up with Dave Mairs for breakfast. I haven't seen him for almost 13 years. It
was great to see him and to my disappointment, our time was cut short for we had to make our way
to the airport.

What can I say. I've been a little neglectful with the updates lately, 2 months since the last
one.
We've gone to a number of AV's games including the first game of the playoffs last night.
Amanda, Sherry, Dave and I went to Bon Jovi last week. What a great show! None of us could speak
the next day with all the yelling we did.
We went skiing 4 times up to Copper Mtn. I've given up the board and gone back to skis. It's
so much fun.
We're in negotiation for a new home. Details to follow as they come.

Had a great weekend. Friday night we went over to the Legrands for dinner and games.
Saturday, the gang of us went down and took the Pepsi Center Tour. We ran into Coach Tony Granato
in the halls. After that, we went to lunch at the ESPN Zone and also played some games. Amanda and
I then went to the AVs vs. Wild, AVs won 3 - 2.
Sunday, Amanda and I went down to Denver to tour the Molly Brown house. It was very interesting. We
then went out to dinner at The Keg Steak House.

We went up to Breckenridge for the ice sculptures on Saturday.
It was a georges day hitting a high of 47 degrees. We wandered around
looking at the sculptures, had a nice big lunch at the Breckenridge Brewery
and a few beverages at Bubba Gumps.
It was a great day.

Amanda, Mike and I went to the Blueliners meeting at C.B. & Potts. The special guests were a
NHL Referee and two Linesman. We had dinner at one of the Linesmans table and were able to have
a nice discussion. The three then addressed the club and we were able to ask questions. It
was a great time and very insightful.
