About the Uppsala Institute for Dylan Studies | ||||||

Founded in 1973 by the reclusive Swedish audiophile Gunborgh Elstonson and based in Uppsula, the Institute is dedicated to intellectual discourse about Bob Dylan's music. The Early Dylan: Performances and Recording Sessions, 1958-1965 website was developed from years of research and collecting (see: Collection Development Policy). We believe that it provides the most comprehensive and accurate picture of Dylan's concertizing and recording during this crucial period of his career. This site is under construction, but it currently allows users to access information in several ways. The "Title" pages list songs that Dylan performed during this period (Only songs beginning with "A" and "B" are available at this time). One song, "Blowin' in the Wind," links to lyric transriptions and will eventially link to melodic transcriptions. Each song title is followed by dates of performance and these link to the "Set Lists." Set lists allow the user to understand the context in which each song was performed. Most set lists include italicized song titles that reference the Institute's Source Recordings. |
