Spiderweb art

Here's how you do it:

1) Locate a spider's web, hopefully somewhere outside. Have the kids
gently shoo away the spider ("Go on! Git!").

2) Tape a white piece of paper on some cardboard to make it stiff.

3) Take a can of spray paint and spray through the spider web. Don't
spray so hard it tears up the web. You want to coat the web but leave
it pretty much intact.

4) While the web is still wet with the paint, hold the
cardboard/paper BEHIND the spider web and pull it TOWARD you slowly,
so it comes right flat through the web. Set aside to dry thoroughly.
The painted spider's web will stick to the paper, and when it dries,
you'll have a painted "print" of the web itself.

This lady said her kids (and grandkids) had quite a collection of
these mounted in a notebook, and the variety of webs you can find is
truly amazing. Every web is different, a true work of art, and a
testimony once again that there is a Master Designer and Creator of
all things.

Guidelines for Nature Walks:

1.  When we walk through nature remember that we are visiting Creator's home,
and like any other place we visit, we show respect and give our thanks.

2.  Leave nature as we found her.  We don't take anything that doesn't belong to
us and we don't leave anything behind except our footprints.

3.  Speak softly, Mother Nature has good ears.
No screaming or yelling.....we don't want to scare or wake up any
of the critters who make their home here.

4.  Respect all critters, even the ones that frighten you or give you the creeps.
We are all connected through the circle of life.  We are all related.

5.  Respect the plants and trees.  Pulling off their leaves and branches hurts them,
and band aides don't work for them.

6.  Help keep Mother Earth clean.  If you see trash,  pick it up and throw it away
when you find a trash can.

(and last but not least,  the acorns are squirrel food--leave them for the squirrels.
The ones you stuff in your pocket and forget about don't do well in the washing machine).

All Things Bright & Beautiful
Words based on Genesis 1:31
by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
Creator  made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
Spirit  made their glowing colors,
Spirit  made their tiny wings.
The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
Creator made them every one.
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
To gather every day.
Spirit  gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is Our Creator,
Who has made all things well.
