Halloween Frenzy @ Baeris' Kshau's Healing Den

Ryslen Weyr Tiyanni was sitting at her desk, busy as usual when Baeris' blue flit Striker put in an appearance. Upon reading the message, Tiyanni started grinning too. The Flurry was going to be a major hassle, and appeasing the dark dragons would definitely make things easier. She sent the message around Ryslen via the fastest in-house messenger; the one and only Q'wic. If he was fast before, he was faster now with Eilboteth; but that's a story for another time. Eil' is far too pale for this frenzy!

Everyone wanted to know what qualified as 'dark.' Q'wic's rapid reply was "if your dragon's dark enough, you'll know." A good answer. Once word had been spread around the Weyr, Q'wic took off to the other parts of East Rock where Riders were stationed.

Only one Ryslen dragon seemed even remotely interested at first; Searcher Minaeya's Auspexeth. She was one of Faloritoth and Sxoith's offspring, and had been found to be incredibly sensitive to those with the potential to become riders - not that she had to use it. Her rider Minaeya could see auras; and not just whisps, but true color. She could pick the only non-rider out of a group faster than someone could ask her to do it. When word reached them, there was no doubt at all that they'd be joining the frenzy; even if every other Night hatched showed up. THEY were an unbeatable team; especially because Auspexeth could see the auras too.

Minaeya and Auspexeth were on their way to the Healing Den when Min laid eyes on the Harper S'io. He was an unusual creature himself, being able to hear Sonar and all. Min stopped to talk to him, and his strange bronze. Beilyaoth was so bronze, he was orange, and so orange he was nearly blackened.

"Something wrong, S'io?" she asked.

"Sortof, not really." he replied.

Min rolled her eyes. She hated that response. "oh?" she queried.

"We're debating whether or not to sign up for that Frenzy." S'io admitted. "I think Beilyaoth counts as dark enough, but he's hesitant, believe it or not. He's never chased before."

Min could hardly keep herself from laughing. "Sign up;" she said. "There are worse places to fly - or so I hear. Auspexeth hasn't risen yet either." This convinced Beilyaoth, and the pair headed off to make the arrangements.

Should we go to VallenCove and see if anyone there needs convincing? Auspexeth purred to her rider as they launched into the air. Min laughed, and gave her dragon the visual of that cove. Who knows what needs doing these days?

VallenCoveThe message was recieved at Vallen Cove, and ignored by most. They knew what sort of dragons came from Baeris'. Moeomth and Twengith were residents here, after all. It was midnight, and it had been raining heavily, so there was no campfire; not tonight. Two voices could be heard, quarreling.

"You can't be serious! Twengith? in a Frenzy?" a male voice said.

"I am serious!" a female voice retorted. "Twengith is more than qualified, and if she gets any more enthusiastic about it, I may have to call Glinde and have her sedated!"

"This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, Maranni! How can you expect to participate in a flight when you're a cripple?"

"I see how it is! It's not about Twengith anymore, it's about me. I'm not good enough for a frenzy because I have no legs. SO kind of you to point that out." Maranni snarled.

"I'm just looking out for your best interest..." the male voice said, trailing off as a dark dragon appeared from out of nowhere and landed safely on the beach. The voices were quiet, so they wouldn't be found.

Suddenly, the male speaker screamed. "S'rion, S'rion, S'rion. Calm yourself." Minaeya said, standing beside the rider with her arm around his shoulders. It wasn't common knowledge that Min could see Auras, let alone auras in pitch black night. "I think Twengith ought to come to the frenzy too. Heck, She's almost glowing black. And Maranni, I'll wager Baeris' would love to see you again. And don't worry - not all men are as pompous and pigheadded as S'rion."

Maranni laughed. "Count us in, Min."

* * *

In the morning, Z'rin came into the dining hall looking a touch bewildered. "Has anyone seen Maranni? She and Twengith are late for their Watch."

Headwoman Dyni sighed. "She left late last night with Minaeya. She got into a fight with S'rion. I'm surprised she didn't thrash him for what he said to her."

Z'rin's eyes went wide. He didn't even need to ask what sort of thing the bluerider had said. He'd known Maranni a long time. "Where did they go?"

"To Baeris' Den, I believe." Dyni said, stirring spices into a pot. "I think they're both signing up for that Hollow Weenie Frenzy Q'wic was telling us about."

Z'rin's face set as he thought about this. A whisper quiet voice started nagging in the back of his mind: Moe's orange. Moe's orange. Moe's orange. Moe's orange and he SWIMS. Moe's orange and he swims and they're lookin' for odd things... Moe's orange...

Z'rin laughed. "Okay Moeomth, that's enough!"

Enough of what? the dragon replied, as innocent as you please, and just a touch confused.

Z'rin laughed. "Moe, tell S'rion that he's in charge of the waterfront from now on. Dyni - you tell him too. Moe and I are going to that frenzy; as soon as we can arrange transportation..."

Dyni grinned. "Good for you."

Alivirth comes; he'll take us. Moeomth informed his rider a few minutes later. Do you think Mijath will be there?

"I have no idea, Moe. No idea at all. But this is Baeris' we're talking about. Who knows what'll happen?"

Auspexeth
Auspexeth hatched at Ryslen! She's a heavily built gal, sturdy, with a noticeable amount of stamina.

Minaeya is a caring sort, and not too bad looking.

Beilyaoth
Beilyaoth was hatched at Tiamat Weyr.

Beilyaoth is an average sized bronze, with a Y-spaded tail and an overinflated ego.

He's a bit skeptical about this whole frenzy thing... perhaps it's just fear of girl-dragon-cooties?

His rider is a rather nondescript Harper S'io, who has a knack for poetry. heh.

Twengith
Twengith hatched from the Swim Clutch at Baeris' Den. She's green with an unusual oil-slick pattern on her hide. She's just under half the size of a normal green, and is very sturdy in flight.

Minaeya is a strong willed-girl; don't let the amputated legs fool you.

Moeomth
Moeomth hatched from the First Stunt Clutch at Baeris' Den. He is the first seadragon to appear from there, and is exceptionally proud of that.

Yes, he's orange; or, brown with a rust variation if you want to be picky. He's an exceptional swimmer, but can only fly in very short hops. (twice his length; no more.) He's appropriately sized for a brown, though most of his length is in his neck and tail.

Z'rin is your average athletically built egotistical-lifeguard. But, he does have a conscience.
