WHO WE ARE
The Friends of the East Boston Greenway is a group of individuals, families and businesses dedicated to realizing the vision of the East Boston Greenway. Established in 2001, The Friends of East Boston Greenway is a charitable, tax exempt Massachusetts corporation. Convened and working as a volunteer council since 1994, the Friends have been instrumental in strategic planning, building consensus, forging relationships and securing funds to create the Greenway that will extend 3.5 miles from Piers Park at Boston’s Inner Harbor to Belle Isle Marsh Reservation on the Winthrop line. With the first half mile of Greenway completed in 2003, the next section of the Greenway to be completed will be through Bremen Street Park in 2005.

OUR PURPOSE
The mission of The Friends of the East Boston Greenway is to promote the establishment, development, maintenance and positive use of the East Boston Greenway, a linear park incorporating other public parklands along its alignment for recreational use through the East Boston neighborhood. The Friends of the East Boston Greenway works to develop and promote educational and cultural programming concerning natural resources, local history and health and fitness with the East Boston Greenway as the venue for these programs. The Friends seeks to cooperate and collaborate with neighborhood, non-profit, public and private organizations to further the development and stewardship of the East Boston Greenway.
