Plying Their Trade...
Life after City is less spectacular for some ex-Tigers than others. While some climb higher and achieve greater accolades, such as Dean Windass, some drop down and end up playing Non-League football. Here, I will take look at some of the latter...

Rob Dewhurst
Big Rob made over 160 appearances for City. The powerful centre back won over many Tigers supporters with his big-hearted displays but as regular first team opportunities became rare in the 1998/99 season, he found himself shut out. So it came as no surprise when Warren Joyce released the former Blackburn man before the start of the 1999/2000 season. Rob quickly found a new club, however, joining Exeter City, where he spent the full 99/00 campaign. After that, he joined Scunthorpe on a month-to-month basis, but with the uncertainty decided to join Gainsborough Trnity. However, he moved again, this time after only one match, to North Ferriby United, where he currently plays. When City met Ferriby recently, (28th July 2001) Rob played at centre back and showed his old strength and arial ability whilst having a good game. Ferriby will be hoping he continues to impress.

Adam Lowthorpe
Made over 70 appearances for City as a right back after signing pro following a successful time in the Youth Team. He was released at the end of the 1997/1998 season by Mark Hateley, and joined Gainsborough Trinity. However, North Ferriby United pulled off a major coup by signing the full-back in December 1998. Has scored a few goals for our local neighbours since then and was one of their best players in the Billy Bly Memorial trophy encounter. (28th July 2001)

Jon French
You may have heard about him recently... Currently turns out for Welsh Champions League giants Barry Town. After joining City from Bristol Rovers on 17 July 1998, made 20+ plus appearances for the club. Was released at the end of the 98/99 season, and made debut for Barry against Boavista in the UEFA Cup in August 2000. Made 55 appearances for the Welsh Premier club last season, scoring 17 goals, playing as a forward.

Paul Fewings
The young forward left the Tigers in July 1998, after making over 60 appearances for the club, joining Hereford United. was the top scorer for them in the 1999/2000 season, netting 14 times, including one goal against Leicester City in the FA Cup. Joined Boston United before the start of the last season, and later went on a loan spell at Farnborough for the rest of the campaign.

Alex Dyer, who scored City's winner against Leeds in 1988 and played against us for Notts County last season is now at Dulwich Hamlet. Michael Quigley left Northwich Victoria for Welsh side TNS Lansantffraid. And Michael Blythe is still at North Ferriby.
