Notes: Comrade Mullins was 23 years old when he left home and friends to fight for the preservation of the Union. He had been engaged in farming when he was enrolled in 1863, as a private in Co. G, 14th KY Cav...He was wounded at the battle of Owensville in right leg, for which he was treated in hospital a short time. He was taken prisoner but escaped the next day. He was also granted a short furlough when wounded...He was honorably discharged at Flemingsburg, KY in 1865. He had two brothers in service, Wallace and Preston. Comrade Mullins and wife became Christians early in life; he is a member of Patrick Post, No. 120; he is engaged in farming and has done a successful and thriving business; his post office address is Salyersville, KY.

Notes: Elijah served as a volunteer in the 14th KY Cavalry, Co. G from Dec. 1862 - Mar. 1864. He married Lucy Ann Carmack in 1868 and in 1870 the couple were living in Abraham Carmack's household in the Traveler's Rest Precinct. By 1880, they had their own dwelling next-door to Abraham. Sometime between 1899 and 1909, they moved to land on the left fork of Doe Creek road. Elijah was still living when his son Lewis was killed in 1926. Elijah had measles while in the service. He received a $100 a month pension. He was living in daughter Isabel's home on Doe Cr. Rd. when he died in 1933. There was a request for burial expenses by John Tirey in Elijah's pension file. He weighed 152 lbs. when he was 56 years old. His description in 1912: 5'10", fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair.
