The picture above is of the aluminum casting of the left and right rear deck covers. The piece in the middle is the vent dome cover on the top of the turret. Blue layout die sprayed on the parts to prevent glare.
This picture gives a good shot of the grill work for the side of the deack cover. The grill itself is brass flats soldered together.
The picture on the left is a shot of the bottom side of the turret top. We wanted to be able to have full access to the turret compartment so the top plate uses a simple latching system to lock down.
The electric motor setup in one of the member's model.
These are 24 volt gearhead motors bought on the surplus market.
The picture below shows the master for the vent cover. The commanders hatch ring will be cast aluminun also. The secondary hatch is alunimum turned on a lathe. No real details yet.
The picture above is the wood master for the turret ring assembly shown below. The fiberglass turret is bolted onto the completed aluminum ring.
The last two pictures shows the turret rotation motor setup. The turret drive motor is also 24 volt and is geared to a nice slow speed just right for our turret operation. Simple servo actuated for forword and reverse. The drive roller uses a rubber tire to maintain friction on the turret ring.
The bottom half of the cast aluminum turret ring is mounted onto the hull and uses ball bearings in a lazy susan fashion to aid in easy transversing of the turret.
