What Makes a Good Rapper? A LFP Cultural Review ~ |
Recently, long time LFP member Daniel Minns noticed a trend among rappers: a lot of them are in jail. According to Minns, Project Pat, Shyne, and Slick Rick are all serving time. He also added "C-Murder (Master P's brother, guess what he's in for [murder])." Although Minns pointed out the disturbing trend, he did not note the broader cultural implications that Pat did. "Part of the prerequisite of being a 'good rapper'," according to "[Pro]Ject" Pat, "is to have a record and jail time." Indeed, while only a life on the streets can truely give the rapper the hedonistic nihilism required of rap, it also often lands them in jail. That is why the LFP will only endorse music by rappers who's served a prison sentence. We believe only they can truely be good rappers -- good rappers for America. Prospective rappers for the LFP are encouraged mail a resume along with a certified record of their jail time to the LFP campaign headquarters. Also, please mail some samples of lyrics bashing fat cats. |
