Modifying a NYKO intercooler so it won't void the x-box 360 warranty.
(1) Remove power cord plug assembly from the intercooler so the x box's power cord can be plugged directly into x box 360. Remember to leave as much of the two wires coming from the fans to make step 2 easy.
(2) Get a 12v 500mw(1/2 amp) ac adapter.
(3) Drill a small hole in intercooler for its adaptor's wire to get to the fans wires. If adding a jack to match the adapter's plug, then drill the hole appropriately. Otherwise, you will cut off the plug so you can wire it directly to the fans.
(4) Connect to the 3 fans observing proper polarity.
Note: Adapt0r can be hardwired to fan leads but any plug in system
using a coaxial or other polarized system could be used. Polarity is important.
The RED wire to the fans is + . In a coaxial plug/jack setup, the inner contact is usually positive.
(5) Slip x box power cord through opening in intercooler and plug into x-box.
(6) Attach inter cooler.
(7) Plug AC adaptor into intercooler.(If directly attached to fans, go to step 8)
(8) Plug adaptor into AC outlet. Fans should be running.
This will keep the fans from drawing power from the x-box and put no extra stress on the x-box's power supply.
I hope to add some pictures to clear up my fuzzy instructions.
The only real downfall in this concept is that you will need one more AC outlet.
