We are Sailing
We plan to leave Melbourne in August 2002 about 12/08/02 after some warming up in Port Phillip Bay, honing up my seamanship and navigation skills and also with Julie at the helm, we now have had 2 stormy trips to Blairgowrie, it tested everything, we have owned 3 yachts together albeit smaller than Evening Star which is a Hinckley 49 Ketch built in the USA in the late 70's, fiberglass with a large diesel engine and auxiliary and modern instrumentation and relief it has air conditioning.

At rest at Pier 35 in the Yarra River Melbourne
We plan to sail to Port Jackson, Sydney Harbour in a quick few days weather permitting, sheltering in Refuge Bay at the Prom and Eden if required, with a crew of 3 plus Simon, Julie will drive to Sydney, too bloody cold, then up to 6 months  in Sydney and Pittwater  just cruising and fishing etc, Julie will have a car up there so we can visit friends. Possibly leave Pittwater in March 2003 and then slowly up the coast, many ports planned and exploring rivers etc, we only draw 5 ft 8 inches, keel up.

Saloon (note the beautiful Honduras Mahogany)
Then on to the NSW coast, Brisbane, Moololaba and up to the reef, then a circumnavigation of Australia, following Matthew Flinders Route, maybe NZ after that!!!

We will keep you posted on this site and our progress.

We will be contactable through Penta Comstat, using HF radio telephone connection or email through seamail
