Facilitate or Recreate

Adventure learning makes use of outdoor activities and games to create awareness on issues involved in team building. Games invariably involves having fun and this medium is very useful as adults learn in an environment that is relaxed. Thus, to prevent any deviation from the learning objectives the facilitator must hold his own such that the training program does not degenerate to a recreational activity with the participants leaving the training vicinity with a big smile on their face; ever grateful to the instructor for providing this element of fun and games. It is crucial that good facilitators are able to distinguish the learning objectives through effective facilitation. There are ethical considerations when a debrief occurs after an activity.
