Our Ford Family History and Related Family History and Genealogy in Mid Sussex, East Sussex and West Sussex

This site outlines the descendants of a Henry FORD 'of Wivelsfield' in East Sussex and then Burgess Hill in West Sussex, born in the middle of the 17th century and of related families such as, AGATE, BENNETT, BRISTER, BROOMFIELD, CARPENTER, CORKE, CORNEY, JEFFERY, KENWARD, KNIGHT, MASKELL, PENFOLD, UPTON and WELFARE in Mid Sussex or EADE, EVITT, COLLINS in East Sussex or HIDER and SILSBY in West Sussex, among others.

WELFARE runs through one branch as a middle name, e.g. Thomas Welfare FORD. From him and his sister Mary Welfare FORD arose descendants with Welfare as a middle name among such surnames as BROOMFIELD, MORRIS, NORRELL and UPTON.

In the 18th century a line moved to Cranbrook in Kent, in the 19th another moved to Redhill in Surrey and then Fulham in Middlesex while others emigrated to Australia or USA or, in the 20th century, moved elsewhere in the UK and to Canada.
