Education and Career: Bachelor of Technology (IIT Madras) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (IIM Calcutta), 10 years experience in sales, marketing, & product management functions in Travel& Hospitality, Consulting, Software and Internet industries, and as an entrepreneur.

- Started as a hobby while being a part of the sales team of InterGlobe Technologies for Europe, I evolved TravelGlobe.biz (http://www.travelglobe.biz) into a scalable and highly cost-effective online marketing mechanism which is generating over 10 million USD worth of enquiries for the company at practically no cost (unless one wishes to include 100 $ running costs per annum!)- 2005
- Sold AppuOnline.com to Sify.com 2001
- Managed AppuKids.com in its rise to become the leading kids web site in India 1999-2000
- Helped Midas become one of the first private Internet companies in India to get venture funding - 1999
- Co-founded, and served as CEO of, Midas Internet Services, which, among other activities, ran two popular Indian web portals AppuOnline.com (a comprehensive search engine), and AppuKids.com ( a childrens portal) - 1998
- Was part of the core team, and headed the product division of that team, that built Indias first private Internet Service Provider (ISP) services, SatyamOnline 1997-98
Key Learnings from my work experience
- Outside of pure miracles or amazing luck, extra-ordinary growth can result only from doing something extra-ordinary
- The web is a big, big thing. Those who think it is just the dot com thing have not truly understood its potential
- Building and managing an effective team is essential to achieving most goals
- Lack of resources is not a constraint to business success. Partnerships can solve the problem
- Communication is the key to solving disputes and moving forward
- Creating a good system takes a while, but such a system alone can provide continuous and consistent results
- Talking to the market never hurts
- Networks work; relationships are everything in business
- If one wishes to have more sales, one has to go out and sell
- While fascination with great technology is academically interesting, its marketability is key to business success
- The boss does not necessarily know everything. Most times she will be happy if you chip in and provide clarity/assistance
