WHAT'S NEW?

May 20 2001: This day marked the first time in my life to experience "picking oysters". Yes! And it is fun, exciting and painful! Fun because there were so many oysters to pick from the water; Exciting because I was with my family who all have no previous experience. Painful because of the wounds that i sustained on the soles of my feet whenever I step on a shell deep in the mud and because of the cold winds blowing ifrom the sea. Together, we were able to take away about 10 buckets. See photos......

May 19 2001: Another first time in my life! Playing in the Zuid Holland Beker. I played on board 2 for Haagse Toren, together with Joost Michielsen, Theo Hartmann and Ton Bodaan. In the first match, Haagse Toren lost 1/2- 3 1/2, with the half point coming from me. In the second game, I made a mistake and I lost. However, Joost and Ton won already so we were leading  2-1 when I left the hall. I needed to buy something with my wife as the stores in Delft were about to close. Luckily, Theo won his game so Haagse Toren won third place with 3-1.
