" I have this hunger . . . everywhere I look,
I see the evidence of a Creator.
But I don't see it as religion,
which has cut my people in two.
I don't see Jesus Christ as being
any part of a religion. Religion to me is
almost like when God leaves-and people devise
a set of rules to fill the space."

"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty."
~Albert Einstein
"The universe is my country and the human race is my tribe."  -Kahlil Gibran

"The teacher is within,
So you have to learn to be still.
You have to live your life, So that you are listening within
No matter what you are doing."

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following
your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing." ~Thomas Merton
"Belief consists in accepting the affirmations of the soul; Unbelief, in denying them."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Whoso loves, believes the impossible."
~Elizabeth Barrett Browning
"Faith is not belief. Belief is passive. Faith is active."
~Edith Hamilton
"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something . . . I'm free to choose what that something is, and the something I've chosen is my faith. Now, my faith goes beyond theology and religion and requires considerable work and effort. My faith demands -- this is not optional -- my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference."
~Jimmy Carter, former U.S. President

Suggested Reading:
We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been - a place, half-remembered, and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom I can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somwehere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free.
