What is wilderness?
Wilderness, to me, is the infinite beauty, majesty and mystery of our planet left untainted by mankind.

Sanctuary Of EcoBirdLove

Thank you for stopping by. You have stepped into the virtual world of an Earth Lover.

My name is Rei, and I am from Southeast Asia. I have been living in Western New York since 1998. I am a recent graduate from the University of Buffalo in New York, earning a degree in Environmental Studies.

My passion is wildlife conservation and fighting against environmental destruction. My primary focus lies in the conservation, preservation and education of parrots and their habitats, and my goal is to reach out to people and help them look beyond their backyards, and into the rainforests of South America and Australasia. I feel it is important that humans should encompass a wider scope, and support the conservation of our wild parrots as well as educate themselves about parrot companionship.

I am a free-lance educator of exotic birds for a wonderful organization called Earth Spirit. With the help of my ambassadors, a Green-cheeked conure and a Citron-crested cockatoo, I talk about the plight of our wild parrots. This virtually covers the entire spectrum of major environmental problems, from deforestation to pollution to poaching. We enjoy working together, and derive great pleasure from interacting with our audiences. I have also worked with native wildlife for a wildlife rehabilitation center, and conducted educational talks with small raptors, owls and mammals.

My introduction to the charms of the feathered dimension was the arrival of Fortune, my Green-cheeked conure. Armed with "A Guide To A Well-behaved Parrot", which later became my bible, I jumped into the dark rabbit hole and hoped for the best. With a lot of patience on his part and the friendly wisdom of other bird owners, I learned the reins of avian companionship. I am still learning and will continue to learn about these extremely complex and intelligent creatures, who have long suffered for their beauty and brans. You could get to know him at Fortune's Domain, as well as learn the basics about the responsibilities of caring for a parrot.

On October 1, 2001, we became a flock with the addition of Shalom, my Citron-crested cockatoo. Living with a cockatoo, especially one as special as her, is a life-altering and humbling experience. I created a simple webpage for her so you could have a peek into the joy and beauty of a cockatoo. She can be found at Cuddle Corner, so sit back and enjoy the flight.

Apart from parrot-keeping, my core interests also include ornithology, the great outdoors such as hiking and camping, and keeping myself updated on environmental issues. I am also a medieval history buff with a penchant for chocolate and curry.

What's New?
