The EcoSIG Virtual Community

What it does: The virtual community is an email distribution service that links all of us through one email account. After you sign on to the mailing group, you will receive every message that is sent to the central email address. That central email address is EcoSIG@yahoogroups.com. However, when you receive the message in your regular mailbox, it will say that it is from the person who actually sent it to the mailing group. (So no anonymous messages.)

If you reply to that message, it will only go to the person who originally sent the message. If you want to reply and want everyone to see it, just send your reply to the community at EcoSIG@yahoogroups.com. For example, I send a message to the virtual community about an idea for an environmental campaign. Everyone receives it in their regular email mailbox and reads it. Then anyone can send another message to the community either in support of the idea to point out problems with it. Or someone could respond to me only simply by replying to my message.

How to sign up: Simply go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EcoSIG. Click on the word "join" on the right hand side of the screen and you will be taken to the sign-up page. If you already have a Yahoo ID, you can enter it in the box on the right. Otherwise, you will need to sign up for a Yahoo ID. Either way, Yahoo will walk you through the process. It is quick and painless, and no, they wonft blitz you with junk mail. Once you have signed on to the EcoSIG Virtual Community, you will never need to visit this site again.
