Ægypt: An ancient land in northern Æsheba that is home to the Ægyptian Empire.

Ægyptian Empire: An empire that dates back to the days of Atlanteja and is now past its prime. Located on the continent of Æsheba, it is a frequent rival with the Milesians of Frengistan to the north.

Æsheba: A continent far to the east of Hibernia and south of Frengistan; home to the mighty Ægyptian Empire.

Atlanteja: An island nation once located southeast of Hibernia and west of Æsheba; contemporary with the ancient Ægyptian Empire. Destroyed in a cataclysm some 1500 years ago, all that remains are a few scattered islands in the Atlantejan Archipelago.

Atlantejan Archipelago: A collection of islands believed to be located somewhere southeast of Hibernia. All that remains of the once-powerful island nation of Atlanteja.

Bandit Kingdoms: Small, fiercely independent enclaves of humanity in Pohjola, located primarily in the northern foothills of the Wyrmspine Mountains and around the Inner Sea. Although not all of the inhabitants are true bandits, many are indeed outlaws from their homelands.

Doksidhe: “Dark Elves” – the dark-skinned race of elves (Drow) that were exiled from Hibernia following the Sidhe Wars and fled underground beneath the Wyrmspine Mountains.

Dverge: The race of Dwarves native to Hibernia and who are found throughout the Wyrmspine Mountains. Most modern dverge claim as home one of two strongholds – Lithopolis or Silverhall.

Formorians: The race of Bugbears native to Hibernia prior to being displaced by colonists from Atlanteja. Most Formorians now live in semi-savage clans that roam the steppes of Pohjola and launch occasional raids upon Hibernia.

Frengistan: A continent far to the east of Hibernia and north of Æsheba. It is the home of the Milesian Empire.

Hibernia: A continent far to the west of Æsheba and Frengistan and northwest of the Atlantejan Archipelago. First discovered by the Atlantejans more than 3000 years ago.

Inner Sea: A large body of water in Pohjola.

Liosidhe: “Light Elves” – the fair-skinned race of elves that remained above the surface following the Sidhe Wars. Commonly referred to simply as Sidhe.

Lithopolis: “Stone City” – One of the oldest surviving communities in Hibernia and built as a cooperative project between Dverge and humans. The primary source for Orichalcum in Hibernia.

Orichalcum: A naturally occurring and magically active alloy of copper and gold. Frequently used in the creation of magic items.

Pohjola: A vast steppe north of the Wyrmspine Mountains and home to both roving bands of Formorians and any number of Bandit Kingdoms.

Sidhe: The collective name for the races of Elves native to Hibernia. Although the name is collective, it is also generally used to refer to the Liosidhe.

Sidhe Wars: A civil war between the Liosidhe and the Doksidhe more than 2000 years ago.

Tumbaga: A man-made alloy of copper and gold, similar to Orichalcum but not magically active.

“The Ulixiad”: The chronicle of Ulixes and his attempts to return home following the Wilusan War. Includes the story of his discovery of Hibernia.

Ulixes: An Atlantejan king who inadvertently discovered Hibernia while attempting to return home following the Wilusan War. The story of his adventures is called “The Ulixiad”.

Wilusa: An ancient Ægyptian city that was the focal point of the Wilusan War. It was so utterly destroyed in the war that its ruins have never been found.

Wilusan War: An ancient war fought between Atlanteja and Ægypt on and around the site of the Ægyptian city of Wilusa. The story of the war has been chronicled in “The Wilusiad”.

“The Wilusiad”: The story of the Wilusan War in general, with King Ulixes of Atlanteja as the primary character. Considered by many to be a prequel volume to “The Ulixiad”.

Wyrmspine Mountains: A rugged mountain range that separates Hibernia from the steppes of Pohjola to the north.
