Cars
Skyline - Porsche - McLaren
Nissan Skyline - Japanese beasty. The newer models (R32 1989-93, R33 1993-98 & R34 1998-on) are all available with straight six cylinder engines, non-turbo and turbocharger(s).

Top of the range model for each series is the GTR, nicknamed GODZILLA - Powered by the Nissan RB26DETT engine, maybe the best engine to come out of Japan, 2.6 litre, straight six, twin turbo, very smart four-wheel drive system that can send more power to the wheel(s) with the most grip, and less power to the wheel(s) that have the least traction.

The GTR for each series of Skyline was released after the more "sedate" models.

In Japan, cars are meant to have a maximum power rating of 208kW/277hp/280ps. This is the maximum you will see quoted for production cars. BUT, many cars have more than this "limit". The numbers below show what power ratings the GTRs are actually closer to having.
R32
220kW/293hp  368Nm/272lbft/37.5kgm
R33
230kW/307hp  383Nm/283lbft/39.0kgm
R34
240kW/320hp  393Nm/290lbft/40.0kgm
I've heard this before, a V8 in a Skyline!? It's possible but I won't believe it until I see it.

R35 Skyline GTR - Motor Magazine has a nice article on the New R35 Skyline GT-R in it's latest issue. "...GT-R goes global - Nissan to drop 'Skyline' name for all-new, 300 kW V8 GT-R..."
- R35 GT-R, non turbo 4.5L v8 (possibly based on the R390 engine)
- outputs 300kw
- Launch in 2003
- A sneak peak at this new baby in December!

Before the R34 GTR was released, one car dealer told me that a friend of his in Japan had seen a twin turbo V8 GTR. Maybe he wasn't that far off the mark after all? There is a VERY nice V8 in the R390 afterall...

Could this be the future R35 Skyline GTR? With a V8? What??? More likely it'll be a twin turbo version of a new V6, like the one in the new Z.... We'll see!
Nov.2001 - The sleek silver machine above has just been shown at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show and is a Skyline GTR Concept car. More pictures at -
