The webmistress of The Eddings Codex
As the webmistress of this site, I am a twenty years old Eddings reader who likes to share her enthusiasm for these great books with other fans. Living in the Netherlands, I'm a student of Ancient Greek and Latin language and culture at University. Becoming a writer as well as a scholar in the field of the classics are some of my persuits for the future (besides, of course, the most important one: being happy in life). When it comes to character, I have always been able to recognise a lot of myself in some of the ladies appearing in the Eddings books, and I think perhaps Aphrael comes closest.  (Don't worry, I'm not divine. I just have her temper!)

At the age of fourteen I became acquainted with the books of David and Leigh Eddings. I had always liked to read fantastical adventure stories in my youth (like C.S. Lewis'
Narnia Chronicles and Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain) and I wanted something alike but then for young adult readers. It was my mother who took Queen of Sorcery out of the library's bookshelf and I'm still very grateful to her that she did! The stories, places and characters of the books of David and Leigh Eddings are so real, so lively and so amazingly much fun that they have become part of my daily vocabulary, even though I didn't turn out to be a very avid fantasy reader. Besides the Eddings books, I found hardly any books in that genre that could capture me as they kept doing. At later age I also began to admire The Lord of the Rings books of J.R.R.Tolkien, especially because of their great epic proportions and linguistic quality (and linguistics is my present field of study, after all), yet the creations of Eddings remain as fresh, witty and enjoyable to me as ever, and that's largely because of their wonderful, lively cast of characters.

Besides the books of David and Leigh Eddings I also adore Homer's
Iliad and Odyssey among many other classical stories, myths, histories and plays as written by writers such as Vergilius, Euripides, Ovidius, Sophokles and so on. The legends of King Arthur and his Knights are on my list of favourites, too, and besides reading, my other hobbies include drawing, dancing, making and enjoying music, travelling and challenging my imagination by writing.

It's a lot of fun to webmaster this site and I hope that you like visiting it as well. If you have any comments, suggestions or you just want to send me a reaction, feel free to do so, by sending me a
