Set in the future, in the year After Colony195, Humans have set out from Earth to build new lives in the Space Colonies. An organization called the Alliance Millitary has been controling the colonists by means of force, using large man-like machines called Mobile Suits. After years of oppression, and living in fear, some people in the colonies decide to fight back. They do so by constructing five Mobile Suits of their own called Gundams, piloted by five young men, and send them to Earth disguising them as shooting stars. This is called Opperation Metor. instead of going after the Alliance Millitary that has been the cause of so much distruction and fear, they are instructed to go after the secret organization that has been pulling the strings, OZ. The 49 episode series takes us through the numerous battles that the five young men have, and their struggle to free the colonies from the oppression of the Earth's millitary forces. Now while this particular series has quite a large following in fanfiction and fanart, many people do not like it simply because the storyline itself is a little hard to follow. Alot of the series is spent simply expaining all the diffrent moves that the governments and millitary organizations are making. Personally though, I feel that it is a prime example of Anime that can stand the test of time. It has good character development, animation, and an intreguing storyline. Their is nothing in this series that wouldn't be apropreit for younger viewers. The only thing that I would worry about is the extent of their actual understanding of the plot. |
