Always standing by,
At His command they're with us,
In the twinkling of an eye,
And, when we cry out to Him,
He hears our earnest plea,
He sends His angels down to earth,
To rescue you and me.
They surround us in our bed at night,
And guard us while we sleep,
And when we're sick and lonely,
They dry the tears we weep,
Then they will gently comfort us,
And hold us by the hand,
And grant to us, a sweet peace,
We do not quite understand.
For our God truly loves us,
He wants us to succeed,
In fulfilling the perfect plan,
He has for you and me,
He gives His angels charge of us,
To guide our wandering feet.
