The Color Doesn't Matter
I overheard a story, between two kids today,
A little white boy, to a little colored girl, did say,
"When we grow up I'll marry you, and happy we will be,
We'll have two little children, and they'll look like you and me."

The little girl smiled up at him and said, "It can't be so,
You see, our color's different, and people talk, you know,
They say that we're not equal, and that we're not the same,
They say the kids must suffer, even though they're not to blame."

"We'll have to wait until we go up to our Heavenly home,
To get married and be happy, where the streets are paved with gold,
Cause in the Bible, Jesus tells us, that He loves us all the same,
He doesn't care about the color, and He'll let me wear your name."

"He'll love our little children, whether they are black or white,
Because He made us all, you know, and He knows what is right,
He doesn't even look to see, the color of our skin,
He only wants to know that we have love and peace within."

If we could only see this world through the eyes of little kids,
We'd understand the way that Jesus wants us all to live,
We'd love each other dearly, the way we know we should,
The color doesn't matter, if our hearts are true and good.
