The Lonely Loon | |||||||
The loon is searching for a place, On which to build her nest, She'll cruise up and down the lake for hours, Until she finds the perfect spot, Where she will lay her eggs, And wait the many weeks her eggs require. The father loon will stay around, And help her build the nest, Together they will work, until it's done. He will stay close by her, And help at her request, To put the danger, swiftly on the run. It is awesome , just to watch, The way, the Lord provides, Skill and instinct, for our feathered friends. They plan and build their nests, So they may survive, And multiply the way that He had planned. A second pair of loons, Were once living on the lake, Until a careless boater took the life, Of the lady loon, and left her lonley mate, To mourn forever, for his little wife. You hear him cry, at break of dawn, All summer long, He sadly glides along the lake, alone, And then at dusk, he cries again, Waiting for her call, Not understanding, why, she does not come.
