Ana, or Aña, is the Spanish form of Hannah. Originally it meant “God Has Favored Me,” “Grace, Graceful,” or “Prayer.”

In the United States, Ana is usually only given to girls of Hispanic decent. Its diminutive, Anita, has traditionally had a wider appeal.
