Bernice, or Berenice, is the English form of a Macedonian name, Berenike, a form of the Greek name Pherenike. It means "Bringing Victory."

History:
Bernice was popular at the beginning of the Christian era, after to the marriage of Ptolemy I of Egypt to a Grecian widow of that name. Due to a mention of a Bernice in the New Testament, the name also became a fairly popular Puritan name.
