Candice a is title given to queens of Ethiopia that is found in the Bible.

History:
Candice is a variant spelling of Candace.

Candace was a title found in the New Testament. The phrase “Candace queen of the Ethiopians” (Acts 8-27) was misunderstood or used as a name by English Puritans of the early 1600s.

Candace was revived by the 1942 movie Meet the Stewarts starring William Holden as Michael Stewart and Frances Dee as rich girl Candace Goodwin. The phonetic variation Candice soon followed. Both became quite common in the 1950s, and the names were again given a boost in the 1980s, probably thanks to actress Candice Bergen.
