1. Darcy is an Irish name meaning “Dark One” from the surname Ó Dorchaidhe, from “dorchadh” meaning “Dark.”

2. Darcy is an English surname, coming from the aristocratic surname D’Arcy, meaning “From Arcy,” an area in France. It was brought to England by Norman d’Areci, a follower of William the Conqueror.

History:
The surname Darcy was brought to Ireland in the 14th century by the aristocratic D’Arcy family, where it was transferred to become a first name.
The name Darcy was then used as an Anglicized form of the surname Ó Dorchaidhe.
