Fredrick is either a contracted form of Frederick, or an English form of Fredrik, the Scandinavian form of Frederick. Frederick is the modern English of an Old Germanic name, Frithuric. Originally it meant “Peaceful Ruler” from “fried” (peace) and “rick” (power, ruler).

History:
Fredrick, being an alternative to Frederick, became more common in the early 20th century in the United States. It rose and declined roughly in the same eras as did Frederick.
