Lorenzo is the Italian form of a Latin name, Laurentius. Originally it meant “Man from Laurentum” from laurel, or “Crowned With Laurel,” as in “honored.”

History:
Lorenzo was a common name in medieval Italy. It was prominent in the Medici family and was the name of Lorenzo the Magnificent. In the 20th century United States, Lorenzo has always been present, probably introduced by Italian immigrants of the late 19th century.
