Lynnette is a diminutive of the name Lynn, which could from Linda, Belinda, or Melinda, the surname Lynn which means “Lake,” the Germanic name Lynna “Cascade,” or the Germanic surname Linne (“Lime Tree”).

History:
Lynnette was reintroduced to and revived in the modern world by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, in Idylls of the King (1859). The name had been found in old Arthurian tales as Linnet, Lunette, or Luned.

Lynnette did not become common, however, until the name Lynn became popular in the mid-20th century.
