Marguerite

Gender: Feminine
Language
: English, French
Etymology:
Marguerite is the French form of Margaret, the English form of a Greek name, from “margaron,” meaning “Pearl,” or “Precious.”

History:
Marguerite is the French form of Margaret, and can be found in France from at least the 14th century. Although previously one of the most popular names in France, it is rather uncommon now.

Marguerite was occasionally used in England (and the United States) but it remained rare until the late 19th century. The Victorians, with their penchant for flower names, sometimes used Marguerite, as a French translation for “Daisy.”
