Mike Arana

Height:  5'8"

Weight:  165

Mike Arana is one of the HSFL's all time greats.  He is one of the founding fathers of the league and has played in all five of the league's seasons.  He runs the ball like Jerome Bettis which is where he gets his nickname "The Bus".  But running the ball isn't Arana's claim to fame, it's his middle linebacker style defense which strikes fear into the hearts of opposing players.  Arana also has an incredible football mind and is a tremendous asset inside the huddle.  A back injury shortened Arana's 2000 season, and could have ended his career, but he fully recovered for the 2001 season.  Arana got off to a slow start on the defensive side of the ball in 2001, but his offense was back and as good as ever.  He finished the season with a league best 21 touchdowns.  His defense picked it up as the season went on, but never quite got back to his normal level.  While his defense suffered, his great offensive production earned him Pro Bowl honors in 2001  Arana has said that he has big expectations for himself this year.  He should be an interesting player to watch in 2002.
