HSFL Officials Prepare for Next Season Following rumors that the HSFL officials were pondering a strike after alleged disagreements between Commissioner Glover and HSFL Assistant Co-coordinator of Officials Hunter McKee, newly appointed league Spokesman Brad Harber released the following statement regarding the official's situation: As of early Friday morning the disagreement between the HSFL and assistant Co-coordinator of officials Hunter McKee has been resolved. There were rumors that the officials could strike but it now looks as though the strike has been averted There were some words exchanged between Commissioner Glover and McKee earlier in the week regarding McKee's importance to the company. The main point was that McKee has never stepped foot onto The Glover bowl yet is an assistant to Phil Mulroe for officiating. The officials Department was just established in 2000 before then there were no officials for HSFL games. The arrival of officials this past year was well taken by most HSFL players. HSFL Senior Official Phil Mulroe had this to say regarding the official's stance on the situation: The HSFL Official's Department would like to state that we are, in no way, considering a strike for this coming season. Quite the contrary, we are very excited for 2002, and are working on several new things for this coming season. We are looking into a combine for officials in conjunction with the possible spring session to get our young officials some experience. We are currently hard at work recruiting new officials, but are still looking for more. Interested parties should contact the hsfl at hsflboard@hotmail.com. We are also getting set to look into some rule changes with a rules committee, most notably, the possible addition of a game clock this year. We have been busy this off-season and are looking forward to the 2002 season. As you can see, both sides are denying any further trouble involving Hunter McKee and appear to have reached an agreement for the coming season. |
