Topic Summary:

The Audio Spotlight is a device used to generate high quality sound. However, unlike traditional loudspeakers, this device can control the location as well as the distribution of the sound that it produces. Using the properties of the air, the Audio Spotlight is able to create a narrow beam of audible sound from inaudible ultrasound. The Sound Beam behaves just like a beam of light.

The Audio Spotlight is able to direct sound (such as music or dialog) to a specific person, group of people or a specific area. Therefore in this way, only the intended listeners will hear what you want them to hear. The Sound Beam can also be directed off a surface (such as a wall) creating an "image" of sound where the beam of sound reflects off the wall. This audio image is actually a projected loudspeaker making the sound seem as if it is coming directly from the point of reflection of the sound off the surface.

In the future, the Audio Spotlight can be applied to many entertainment and advertising applications. It can also be used in dance clubs where there can be many people in one room listening to different types of music (one group would not be able hear another group's music). The Audio Spotlight will change the way we hear the future.
