Leeds festival 22 august 2003 sweat to sweat, bum to bum, hip to hip. 20,000 people are expected in this three days venue with full of global shit head band. whatever kind your into except pop idol winner or wannabe. very early morning i've prepared everyhing to enjoy that unmissable chance to see all the great band performing together in one day ticket. the way to find it were a bit confusing, since its found its new home in Branham park Leeds. There were many yellow sign post from different kind of direction but finally im there. there were que everywhere, yes and it takes ages to go inside but this is just the beggining. but the good thing about outdoor venue is the ciggaretes smoke are puffing in the air instead of straight to your lung. bur the hell with it. i expect to hear drum shakin, heart pumping, and see cute, weird boys, cracking the beer passing in front of me. there were lots of stall. but the price for food are ridiculous especially in the vegan stall. thankfully i've got my own pack lunch. i wasnt really sure about the hygine by looking from the inflamable hundreds of toilet which was so stinking it makes the food that like it has been pissed off. the first band i saw were the ''all american reject'' at the main stage. there were okay. probably its still too bright everyone doesnt seems to care that much.Good Charlote lots of screaming girls pointed at them the guitarist has a very nice hair cut. then the were The Used, they say to many f word, then the lead singer told us to say happy birthday to one of the member from Metallica he has a very strong voice and very not out of tune. at this time i was in the middle front jumping, screaming and flowing in the moshing pit. my hand hurt so bad because theres this really big fat guy falling in top of me, my chest felt as flat as pitta bread. my torso were pressed and hit really bad by some 2 stupid mosher who unlaced his shoes properly. my bloodstream were forced to enjoy it to feel good. the way my brain respond with the rythm is sizzling automaticly. head moving up and down side to side and jump as high as you could get in a reflect movement according to the beat. the crowd are athmosphere is getting hotter so me and my 2 friends really have to get out from that pit. we rushly queing to the NME signing tent to get Hot hot heat's autograph. luckly each of us had a picture taken, but the security guy were horrible. but u cant have too much of everything in the situation like this. beside the signing tent were the dance arena. i can see people dancing around without noticing what everyone else think. but it looks good they have their own groove style but still realise that it is not IBIZA. very electroclash. i walk back to the main stage and see a little bit of SUM41 they were awesome. but sadly i have to run to radio1 stage to see Hot hot heat. they remind me of all the small gigs i've seen in Jakarta with Nadya. it was packed but i couldnt be bother to move because i wanting to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs to pay for this festival and im determind to be in the front by pushing everyone through. huh i made it suddenly. there were Granddaddy before them. i feel kind a relax coz they weren't punk rock. its just pure quality good live performance. its really annoying when the band you want to see so badly is playing at the same time in different stage. in my case was System of a down and of course the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. since im already in the front line theres no way im going back out. the security man probably seems already bored to see me screaming and trying to take picture from there. At last Karen O and the rest of the band were ready. she was wearing a pink fishnet, black mini wrapped suit, long line of thick green eye shadow and a converse. very pettite but highly perfomance. the best song that they performed this night were Rich . nizk zinner the guitarist oftenly facing the back as usual, but he turn around for the last for song that they've played. brian chase were wearing black tshirt rolled over after the first 4 song. he looks so good. it looks almost impossible with the looks of geography teacher but hitting every note inthe beat with such a passionate expression. he was the highlight from all point. i was really turned on with him. Mosh pit are not as unpopular as it used to be for girls nowdays. especially at this time where alternative music are highly popular pushing boyband trend and people in the music business. Now they are (member of the band) are even raunchier, wittier, and smarter, plus musically talented that will bring some pleasure or any particular emotions with their real lives. the night is getting colder and darker. everyone doesnt care anymore queing for the toilet. as long as theres a appropriate place in the corner then it'll do for them. of course by the time you walk passed their territory it absolutly stinks. most of the people are drunk by now. the 24 hour ticket were ended with Metallica playing some of their new song and some old classic, the harmony works together with the firework exploding in the sky beautifully. when i think of it, what kind of boring music is it that they actually thought inside this whole mega pit? this is the place where everykind of character and culture combined together. Will i do it again? damn sure i will, but it'll have cost all my month is wage. word by tiazT back to elephant braindose |
